Jade and non-beautiful women
Heres a thought.
Everyone always seems to have more of an issue with people if they are not classically defined as beautiful. You only have to look at the hideous posts attacking Jades looks on here to know that. Had someone beautiful in the house behaved like Jade did, would matters have been different. Is that why Danielle is getting away with it, because shes more attractive and therefore easier to like? (As an aside, to me its similar to a theory regarding the death of Diana. Had Princess Anne died in the same way, would there have been as much of an outpouring of emotion?. No I dont think there would have. Diana had what was defined as beauty whereas Anne doesnt, so people dont care. ) Its easier to like beautiful people and hate those not so attractive, which in essence means people have the same bullying qualities they perceive in Jade - they are picking on someone as much for how they actually are, as well as for what they do. |

I think if Jade and Jo had been good looking the backlash would have probably been just as bad - the idea of spoilt pretty white girls bullying Shilpa would have got the tabloids going just as ape as they have been.

I don't entirely agree - often people's perception of whether or not someone is ugly or beautiful, is influenced by what they think of the person.
For example, I have seen people here saying that Danielle is ugly. Well, clearly Danielle is a pretty girl, it's what she's said that's ugly. Like wise, there are women who are no raving beauties, who people don't criticise for their looks, because they find them entertaining and like the way they come across - Kathy Burke comes to mind. |

I think people's reactions to Danielle are different because, despite arguments as to who out of Jade, Danielle and Jo have actually been worse, Jade has a track record of similarly volatile and despicable behaviour. With Jade there's an accumulative effect that isn't there with either Jo or Danielle.
Generally, I agree with the basic point of the OP though, I think the fair and the beautiful often 'get away' with a lot of things. It may have an influence in people's thinking but I doubt it's as simple as that and other factors, like the one I mentioned, come into play too. |

Makosi (who I didnt like) was beautiful yet she was heavily criticised on here and in the press, so that theory doesnt stand.

Danielle's getting away with it because a lot of her worst remarks have been out of hearing of the other groups and haven't been included in the edited highlights show.
She's also part of the built in nomination block. Isn't it strange all 4 of them nominated exactly the same 2 people and gave similar reasons? If I didn't know how carefully the HMs keep to BB rules, I'd be suspicious that there could have been some discussion beforehand. Princess Anne has always worked with many more global charities than Diana and Princess Anne has always been near the top of the hardest working royals league. She just never had the media hype that Diana got. Last edited by Airam : 21-01-2007 at 00:16. |

anyone rememeber sophie pritchard, that tall, slim, pretty dark haired one that married Lee form bb3? well does anyone remeber how nasty jade was to her? and also the fact sophie was everything jade wasn't? pretty, slim, intelligent, i think jade knows she's not very attractive and takes it out on prettier girls, simple as that

OK look at it this way. Had a more fragile, delicate, classy woman timidly walked out to an empty crowd last night, would the sentiment have been different. By her physical appearance I think Jade offends and threatens some people and they never get beyond that.

No I don't think so. Those who don't like Cleo say that she looks like the Joker and that she looks old etc whereas anyone can see she is classically beautiful. I think when people dislike someone they just trash them as ugly

I think it's true. I remember reading about a study where they found attractive women were less likely to be convicted of a crime, but if they were convicted they were given harsher sentences. Presumably because we're so appalled a good looking woman can do wrong
I can't help feeling sorry for the control group in that study. They're due in court, probably scared and anxious and some psychologist says 'mind if we do a study on you? we want to see how you get treated compared to good looking women.' I do wonder if Kate would have won if she hadn't been beautiful.
