Dog Poo on public area

I know we have covered this topic left right and centre, but personally this is really annoying me.

Were we live there is a large green area in front of the houses, which is about the size of a football pitch.

Kiddies play there, and occasionally people let there dogs have a sniff / poo there. But there is a doggie bin, and also there is a sign saying not to let your dogs foul on the green.

There is a woman who has recently moved into the area ... and she has wound everyone up. She is very opinionated and not very nice to be honest, so i dont want to approach her about this.

She has three dogs, and the only walk they seem to get is on this green for about 5 mins a day .... and they are BIG dogs.

Anyway - i have noticed that she lets the dogs poo on the green, and she never picks it up. This morning as i was getting into my car her dog ran from her house onto the green and poo'd. She then called him to get into her car, and they drove off. No attempt to pick it up was made.

Im fuming. I park my car on the edge of the green, and i have trod in dog poo twice. Now i cant categorically state it was her dog that made the mess, but im sure it must be because everyone else picks it up (and not many people take there dogs on there as its not big enough for a proper romp around).

The stupid thing is, she has three kids herself who play outside .... itsnt she worried about them contracting some disease from it ?

What would you do ... or would you just leave it - bearing in mind i dont want to confront her. She is a Lizzie Bardsley type character.

if you know where she lives, pick some dog poo up and post it back to her, through the letter box

is there a fine for not picking it up? maybe report her, or ask your council? if she comes at certain times to the green, then they could send someone down to spy on her.

Smearing it on her cars windscreen is much better, but make sure you get the right car (and that it is stationary)

Make sure you leave a note explaining why, otherwise it would not be right.

If you don't want to confront her, then maybe you could contact your local council? Also try and record the dogs doing the business on your video phone or something similar so you have evidence

Report her to the council. They tend to have fines in place for not picking up poo these days.

Personally I would approach her.

I used to chat to the council men and they used to say they would go around certain parks at certain times to catch people no picking up.

But you do get some people that will not pick up even if confronted, I have to take out three bags with me just in case my dog has three (being his max hes had in any one park visit - I was embarrassed the first time he had two and I only had one bag - didnt learn as he then had three a few weeks later)

you should pick it all up and stick in on her doorstep and keep doing it until she gets the message, you have to be smart about these things and stay anonymous - if you confront her she'll just tell you to f*** off I suspect!

I have the same problem almost exactly as the OP.

There is a lady who lives across the green from me, (we live in a cul-de-sac) and basically she has two dogs who are constantly off their leads and pooh everywhere. Once one of them did it in my front garden (i suspect it had to be her dog/s as there aren't any others that roam about like that) but not being the confrontational type i didnt say anything, also i couldn't exactly prove it...

However, one of her dogs did apparently pooh in my neighbours garden as my neighbour saw this and cleared it up, but her kids were gardening in that particular spot a while later and one of them contracted worms through a bit which wasn't cleared up and had been covered by leaves. I say apparently as my neighbour is a bit of a jackanory type but in this instance she is probably telling the truth.

The problem is that people like the lady who lets her dogs off the lead and they just pooh everywhere, barely take responsibility for their actions, especially if it can't be proven.

Brilliant ~ and it will leave her as fuming as she leaves you Porcupine, because she won't know who's done it.

Best you don't confront her actually.

If she leaves her car window open, slosh a bit on the Driver's seat.

Yes - PLEASE make sure you have the right car.

Some years ago, I had had to pop back home to pick something up. I left my car outside my house for only ten minutes or so, and when I came back out to it, someone had left a bit of paper under the wiper. I picked it up without reading it, (I was in a rush), opened the car door and nearly gagged! Some nice person had got the back door open somehow, and had ground dog poo all over the back seats, the back doors, the carpet - it was everywhere! I looked at the note, and it said "Stop letting your f***ing dog roam the streets I am sick of its s**t everywhere!!!"

I didn't even have a dog!!

Never did find out who did that, and I had to scrap the car - it was unusable, and uncleanable. Fortunately, it was also old enough to scrap.

So please - do make sure you get the right car if you do this.

Take photos of her dog crapping and make sure she sees you do it, then just smile and say 'Just gathering evidence for the council, don't mind me'.

I like ^ idea!!

Seriously, I sympathise. I live in a small hamlet of about 20 houses. Our next door neighbour hardly ever take their dog a walk, they just let it roam freely around the lane. There are other responsible dog owners in our little village that remove any dog mess from the grass verges along the lane. But these people just let theirs do as he likes. Its' driving everyone where I live round the pipe, so I sympathise. If you really think you can't talk to her, then maybe pick up some dog mess and leave it on her lawn/drive as others have suggested.

Thank you for all of your ideas ... and its kinda comforting that im not alone.

Like i said in my first post, this woman only moved into the area about 3 months ago, and she has single handedly upset almost everyone. She also has MASSIVE rows with her husband, and locks him out of the house. He can often be seen sleeping in his car !! She really isnt the sort of woman you could hope to have a decent conversation with.

Its a shame, because everyone else in our road is lovely.

I think i will take photos when i see this happening, and if she doesnt buck her ideas up i will send them to the council with a note of her address. Maybe they will then investigate.

Kids nowadays must have such a boring life with so little dog poo lying around.

I remember I used to love the urban myth story of a local kid eating dog poo because they thought it was chocolate. I can still remember the kids name. He is probably this 35 year old man working in the city in finance, very respectable but don't ever ask him if he wants a mars bar and it has taken him 10 years in therapy to get him to even look at a snickers.

What on earth do kids talk about these days. Similarly, them not "playing out" means that they probably don't have the child snatching scares, and the joys of finding a stash of Razzle in the local stream.

I was driving thro' an estate and a house I saw had a sign on a conifer bush saying

'Will the idiot who let his dog crap on our lawn, pick up after himself - you are being watched'

I detest irresponsible dog owners

We have an owner on our cul-de-sac that lets their dog just walk about the street. So i looked up who is responsible for strays, aparently your council, and called them about this "stray". They replied saying they'd send out the stray dog team

Why didnt you just speak to the owner?

Time waster. No wonder council tax is so high these days.

This woman is being selfish and stupid. If her dogs are not wormed, their poo presents a very real danger to young children playing in the area through parasitic worms that can cause eye damage an even blindness in humans. I would bubble her to the council in a split second, and keep on doing so until she changes her ways. I'd probably use some of the 'other' methods suggested here as well.
Silly cow

Its a care for the dog issue though i was mainly worried about. Not having access to food and water, being locked out.

That is not how you positioned it first time round.

I would still say to speak to the owner would be the best option. You don't know for sure what is going on regardign its feedig and watering.

OK I will start by saying I do not condone dog poo.

However, I dont remember anyone in the 70s and 80s scooping up dog poo. Does anyone at all know of any child who even after being told dont touch dog poo, did so and then got this eye problem? ie just how many instances are there of this illness?
