Victoria Beckham causes another Cowell/Fuller split?
According the the Scottish Sunday Mail, Simon Fuller is lining up Victoria Beckham to be a judge on American Idol. Its part of his company's plan to expand brand Beckham ahead of David's move to LA Galaxy next season. He apparantly wants to put her in place of Paula Abdul.
However, he has reportedly encountered opposition from Simon Cowell, who has, as we know, previously defended Paula and said he wouldn't want the panel to change. The article also states that Cowell believes the Americans wouldn't cope with another British judge, and both FOX and Cowell believe it could sabotage ratings. Personally, I think this is far more likely than any of the other rumoured replacements as Fuller has a personal interest in her career, and what bigger boost than a judging role on America's biggest show? |

AI is to judge SOLO singers. I don't see how Victoria is ideal for that: her solo career wasn't all that. Better Emma Bunton, in whose career Fuller has always taken a lot of personal interest.

One problem...Victoria hasn't really had musical success in her home-country of UK...let alone America!

No matter how much Fuller wants to promote "Brand Beckham" I can't see the American public taking to another British judge on the panel. Especially a judge who has as little to contribute to this as Victoria would. Paula for all her faults is a choreographer and song writer of considerable note, who can comment on people's performances.
Would Fuller risk losing Cowell to put Beckham in there? This I very much doubt. He as much as anyone knows that as far as judges go, it is Cowell who the contestants most want to impress and whom the public most often agree with. |

I don't imagine ANY of them would like to lose their Idol gig on a matter of principle or loyalty!

It won't happen.
The Yanks would be unlikely to accept two judges from "British" on the panel. And Simon wouldn't accept it either. And Victoria Beckham...ugh. I think I preferred the Courtney Love rumour and I absolutely detest Love. |
