Big Brother 8 - Live 24 Hour E4 Interactive Feed
Hi there, I know last year freeview viewers, and eventually NTL viewers of E4 were able to access a live 24 hour of Big Brother by pressing the red button.
I was wondering whether we yet know if a deal has been signed for Big Brother 8 in the same way. Also, now NTL & Telewest are Virgin Media, can we hopefully assume that VM Broadband subscribers are likely to also get a free 24 Hour live internet feed for BB8? Thanks |

For NTL broadband subscribers it was. I assume Telewest was too but I cannot confirm this as I was with NTL before they merged to create VM. (I'm refering to BB7, not CBB)

The Red Button for Freeview E4 Viewers was disabled halfway thru BB7 (last year) which made a lot of people mad.
It remained on Sky and NTL - Not sure about whether it was on NTL during CBB5 My advice is to get internet feed. £12,00 last year. Pros: No ads Cons: Sound dips |

Yeah but the free internet feed for NTL customers was not disabled half way through. A similar deal this year now they are Virgin Media you reckon?

In answer to your question, telewest subscribers didn't get the free internet feed..........nor did we get any 'red button' service on the telly On the other hand, it's 'live' on E4 for about 12-15 hours a day...........how much more than that would anyone want to watch ? |

If there weren't so many sound dips, I might be bothered.
I swear they have sound dips every 30 seconds. I really find it isn't worth watching live feed. |

Something everyone should think about regarding the livefeed is that most ISPs have a SUP or FUP and so you are restricted into how much you can download per month, you may find that your speeds are throttled or you have to purchase more gigs from them.
Watching a livefeed does use up your alloted GB allowance. |

hiya rosemary.........XXs right back at ya !! For CBB I did get the internet feed..............what I found I was doing was having the feed on the computer with the picture minimised, so I could hear the sound.........then I had E4 on the telly with the sound muted........... A bit complicated I know.............but the point was that if anything was happening on 'sound' I could turn round and look at the telly, but if nothing was happening I always had the forum on full-screen..........

Freeview wise there is a chance it might replace Film4+1 - that's what they did last year with More4+1 until Film4 came along and booted it out.
Space wise on Freeview at least multiple feeds aren't really an option - though they could provide an alternative feed when live coverage is on E4. It be nice though if they took the Big Brother content from the "Teletext on 4" pages and made a simple mini-interactive service for the series, so those watching the live feed can also browse the news etc. It wouldn't be a case of any additional content being provided at all - just neatening it all up into one service - though of course live streaming (and interactive ads) aside, C4 have turned their back on the red button! |
