Yours Truly, Angry Mob- Kaiser Cheifs.

Who's got this then? I like it so far, a bit different.
The only song I like on it so far is "Heat Dies Down"

I cranked up the volume in the kitchen and really enjoyed the whole album whilst cooking a meal yesterday.

arguably even better than "Unemployment" - there is something a bit Ray Davies, Lloyd Cole or Squeeze-like about the lyrics and the instrumentation is right each time. quality product, IMO.

The first 3 tracks (Ruby, Angry Mob And Heat Dies Down) are instant KC classics really and the rest is very good too!

Alot of the guitar sounds remind me very much of Blur (Parklife, Modern Life times).

I'm largely bored by current music, but I have to say that I think The Kaiser Chiefs are one of the very few acts who stand out from the rest as having that extra something special.

They appear to me a bit like an Oasis/Blur of this decade who have this knack of coming out with those kind of anthemic tunes that will be well remembered in years to come.

With their first album, when I first got it I only liked the singles and it took a few listens before I came to love the others, and then after a while I adored the whole album. With this one, I already love Highroyds, Angry Mob, Ruby and I can do it without you, I'm not sure about Heat Dies Down but I can't stop singing it, I absolutely love and can't stop playing Love's Not a Competition but I'm winning, which doesn't sound like them at all, and Retirement is exactly how I'm feeling about work at the moment - seriously I have never heard a song that is so exactly how I'm feeling. The only one I haven't taken to yet is 'Thank you very much'. There is a danger they are being overhyped and there will be a traditional second album backlash, but there is just something about their songs that is so catchy, they just cheer me up.

if a band has been together a while, they have often got enough material for an album and a half - hence risky 2nd albums - KC may be writing it as they go and still feel inspired. Oasis have managed to produce a number of decent albums because they did not exclusively rely on material that they had ready-prepared at the start.

if a singer is going to release a covers album - then there is no problem for them, but bands tend to be expected to have more creativity or originality - so we are tougher on them.

I see the Blur comparison, but I like the Chiefs better.

Meh, all seems a bit bland to me, not my kind of thing at all. There's something about his voice and the pacing of the songs which bores and irritates me. I've been enjoying The Wombats and their brand of guitar pop is so much more fun to listen to imo. Just as catchy but they don't take themselves so seriously.

I noticed that they were complaining about the standard of indie/guitar music but the best/only example they could come up with as a good new band was The Twang....which kind of says it all really .

I like the new album although it's not a great deal different from the first so no new musical ground is being broken. I;m going to see them at Sepherds Bush tomorrow night so I look forward to hearing the new stuff live.

I got the album yesterday, I don't think it's as "instant" as their last album but more of a grower.
Not bad though.....

I bought this album the other week, and it is fantastic. What a corker. It took a few listens to get used to all the songs on there (it gets better and better with every listen).

My favourite tracks at the moment;

Ruby (instant classic - one for Glastonbury crowds this year)
The Angry Mob (Very catchy)
Heat Dies Down (Superb song)
High Royds
Love Is Not A Competition But I'm Winning
Thank You Very Much
Boxing Champ (Very nice - short - song)

I'm 43 and my 52 year old mate bought it, sorry 'obtained it' too.

I've had "Angry Mob" going round in my head all day today.

I'm 47 and bought it on Monday. Very good but for me not quite as good as Employment.

It's alright, nothing special. Angry Mob is a decent tune.

I can see them being remembered in the same vein as Supergrass, good pop tunes, but never amount to anything massive.

I didn't like it at first.......found some of the 'La la la la la' type songs filler and annoying........

It is starting to grow on me though, I'd probably say there are four songs that are as good as the third best song on Employment, i.e nothing as good as IPAR or Modern Way........quite enjoyed their Doncaster concert on BBC2 tonight........

I agree to a degree with the Supergrass comparison; KC's are capable of knocking out competent commercial pop songs, but are unlikely to sustain the standard for an entire album.........

I'm not sure about the album tbh. it sounds like they are staying too close to what made Franz ferdinand big in the first place. I'd much rather they would just be themselves.

However I have only given the album a couple of listens, so i could love this album later on, it's not hideous
