Ever since GMG took charge of Century - mayhem has insued.

I wouldn't like to think what will happen next.

Obviously GMG aren't from the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' school of programming.

We saw that when they axed Pat Sharp inexplicably, then changed the previously excellent playlist into some sort of Real Radio clone...with lots of 70's cheese and one new song every show.

Bringing the station in line with Real Radio (whether it be playlist changes or a local evening show) was to be expected and even if Chrysalis' last minute offer had been accepted it would have fallen in line with the Heart brand. It's the way these things work.

Well the Heart brand when I have heard it in London or the West Midlands has always been far superior to Real Radio.

Oh what might have been

I understand that Century is recruiting Nick Pickering to take Eric's place. No disrespect the Nick, but he is not in the same league as Eric G.

I wonder if the other two Legends will depart. If they do I suspect that the listeners to the Legends' show will switch off Century in droves

they haven't recruited him, he's a guest for a few nights. they've also got Dickie Ord and Marco Gabiadini according to tonight's show.

the papers make it pretty obvious what's going on, so Century have to do something to protect their audience. Shame the bbc thinks it can just wade in and steal shows that commercial radio has spent years and years building up.

Well obviously the new bosses GMG have come in and want to make the station brilliant and climb up in the ratings by sacking there BEST DJs and Shows which basically keep the station going.

WHAT A DISGRACE. WELL DONE GMG AND CENTURY MANAGEMENT.

The show has been "re-named" the Legends. Callers who phone up the show and ask what has happened to Eric get cut off!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done to Century management!

Which Radio Station has he signed for?

The remaining "two legends" were extremely ill at ease tonight when the show was bombarded with callers enquiring about Gatesy's whereabout: there were loads of "pregnant pauses" The callers were more interested in asking about Gatesy than talking about the match against Stoke!

Would be great to see the 3 legends re-united on the BBC. The only thing is, that if they were to continue as before surely the programme would have to be joint funded by Radio Newcastle and Radio Cleveland to cover the whole region.

Maybe even extend it across BBC NE&C to take in Carlisle fans too.

I find it utterly appalling that the BBC will just wade in so arrogantly, to try to prise away a long-running show from Century.

Mind you, GMG have just as large a part to play in all this.

It's all a bit pathetic really. They're too obsessed with 'the beautiful game' up there.

Makes you wonder if there's any life in the North East beyond football and the dole.

So because we have a phone in show about Football we're all obsessed about Football are we?

If you did listen to the show you would find it's more about the banter than the actual football content. Century had a garden show a while back which was a joy to listen to; again not about the subject of gardening but the craic with the presenters and callers.

As for your dole comment, think your funny do you? The NE people are some of the most hardworking people in this country, you ill informed, stereotyping imbecile.

What a vituperative, disparaging, opprobrious, ill-informed generalisation.

Just because people in the local area have a passion for football, amongst other things; it is not cannon fodder for prejudiced jibes.

There is nothing wrong with taking an interest in enjoyable leisure pursuits.

With regards to your "dole" comments - what a deplorable comment. I suggest you have factual reference to hand before throwing around insulting sweeping statements like that in future...
