TV LInk problem

I had a TV Link where the female end came loose and although i could solder it back and it worked the picture was never A1 and after a while it would come loose again

So i got a new one

Picture perfect
Power/Red light on (9V power on & off does work )

trouble is the remote has no effect

yes i've tried it direct into the back of the box
and it has no effect

i've also tried the old one direct into the box and now this doesnt work either

any ideas ?

All the thing you've done seem to follow a good diagnostic process. Have you re-booted the box?

When I first tried the TVLink thing the first one I bought didn't work and had to be swapped. Could be a faulty unit.
Do you have access to another box (friend etc)?

Does the remote work on the box itself? Take the TV link and plug it directly into the RF2 outlet on the back of the box, then make sure the eye is placed in such a way that any RCU command won't make it to the front of the box. If the Remote still doesn't control the box through the eye, but does control the box via the box itself, then your Magic eye is faulty and you should return it.

Problem solved

I phoned sky and they offered to send out an engineer for £65

cancel please i said

ok free engineer they said
he came today

box was indeed faulty
asked for bigger hard drive and he said yep ok
box had different fault on it
next box strangely had same fault with tv link (making the engineer wonder how many actually have this fault)
next box worked ok (well so far)
