Food - Is There Any 'Normal' Food You Would Never Even Try?

I say 'normal' because I know the vast majority of us wouldn't fancy having a go at spiders testicles, etc.

What food, that is considered normal, would you never try - just because you don't fancy the look of it or something?

Mine is peas.

I can't stand they way they look, they smell completely revolting and you would have to pay me a lot of money to even touch one.

If someone offered me a million quid I really don't think I would be able to eat one.

How the heck can anyone eat mushy peas?? *vomit*

Anyway, what's yours?

Beans, celery, radishes, broad beans, runner beans, kidney beans, watercress, sauerkraut, peas (especially those disgusting marrowfat ones), pears.

Tapioca pudding. The texture of that 'tadpole' sludge makes me gag.

i'm not as phobic about it as you are about peas though

Eggs. In their "pure form"

Boiled, scambled, fried, ommelette.

Urgh. Just the smell puts me off. I can't eat in the same room as anyone eating eggs.

I couldn't eat cauliflower cheese for any amount!

However, I love mushy peas. Especially with a little aged Balsamic drizzled over them. I'm posh me!

What about the big green ones ('Bigga' peas) that come in a tin of fluorescent green liquid?

Stilton for me. I love strong cheddar but its the smell of stilton and the mould that puts me off! Its a shame because I'm not usually fussy about food and I feel I'm missing out on a lot of nice recipes.

Absolutely. They look, feel and taste horrible. Another one is mushrooms. How do you distinguish between a chopped, cooked mushroom & a chopped, cooked slug?

I absolutely hate tripe. I was in a market in Lancashire and two wizended old hags tried to get me to eat it. It was uncooked and horrid. I just refused,it looked and smelled completely nasty.

Mushrooms are "springier" and less slimy? I can see where shiitakes might get mistaken for slug, though.

Wouldn't touch jellied eels meself.

I would rather eat someone else's bogies.

PS: please don't offer me one - I'm just not hungry at the moment.

Kalimari (sp?)... disgusting. A few years ago on my cat's birthday I bought her one of those gourmet cat tins, and it had squid rings in it... urgh.

Also smoked salmon. Just the smell....
Soft cheese, and those processed slices that claim to be cheese.

Any kind of fish !
When I tell people I don't eat fish, they seem to think this doesn't include Tuna !!!- which is the worst of the bunch
If someone is in a restaurant near me is eating fish i can't eat my own food !
