When I first came to London in 1997, Danny Pietroni was the host. Heart played six hours of '80s music on a Friday from 7 to 1, and then seven hours of club classics every Saturday between 6 and 1. At some point the '80s show was replaced so both nights were disco-oriented.

I do like Club Classics, and the good thing about it is although it's on the Heart stations across the UK (I think it's at the same time, not too sure), it's not networked, and it's individual!

The thing I've noticed with Club Classics on Heart, is that you hear the same tired old songs every week in a different order. This is fine for the 1st few weeks but then it just gets predictable and boring. There are thousands of 70's, 80's & 90's hits out there, so I think they should be more imaginative and experiment with different songs to give it more spice!

I agree. I was looking for the moment to post that same thought about it.

I am a big fan of the show. But that thing is so true .

It's the most boring party show on commercial radio.

I dont think it will ever be networked due to the fact that all the Hearts actually play different genres of Club Classics, 106.2 in London plays more 70s & 80s whereas the one in Birmingham focus more on the 90s and today,

By the way David did you ever get to go to Club Classics in a night club - The club classics tour

Isn't it about time to ditch six hours of club classics on Fridays and Saturdays? What happened to 'More Music Variety'- certainly on 100.7 Heart FM? Can't they bring an 80s show back on one of the nights, ie Friday or Saturday?

Essex FM have an excellent 80s show on a sunday morning, but that is it. There was an 80s show that was taken by the tinpots, but I think thats ended.

Can't see Club Classics going anytime soon. Its very popular. I prefer tuning in occasionally, that way I hear the occasional gems played every now and again, not every week - I don't know if I could stomach Viola Wils every week.

How many stations take Totally 80s? None that I know of in my area.
Again in my area stations have cut back on 80s music like when Centre FM became Touch Fm and Century 106 became Heart. Nothing against club classics but it would be nice to hear some variety and 80s music is STILL popular, as seen with the High School Hits show on Century 105 on Friday nights.

It's well over 20 I think and I read 'in another place' it's just started in Dubai on Channel 4. From memory several stations in Spain take it too.
