*The BB8 Ratings Thread*

Another year, another series of BB...and another ratings thread! Here we are again for BB8! It's May 1st today - official BB month, so I thought I'd start the new ratings thread. I was going to wait until the launch date was confirmed, but things seem to be leaking very slowly this year. I hope it's ok that I started the thread, because I know I started the CBB5 one too . If anyone else wants to start one, then feel free.

Anyway, here we are. Once again, I've posted the ratings for all previous BB highlight shows, spin offs etc. I've also added some ratings for BB1, BB2 and BB3 this time. Last year there was some confusion as to which ratings were overnights and which were officials, so I've labeled them all to make it easier. I wasn't going to include CBB ratings, but somewhere along the line when we get into the swing of things I'm sure someone will ask for them and we'll end up comparing them in some way, so I decided to include them. Anyway, have fun....after all, this is the best thread in the forum hehe lol just joking!

One thing other forum members have said is that this year Endamol and c4 are not bovered about the ratings.

I just dont believe that because they know that bb will be given bad press if ratings fall.

I've noticed that too, and I think it's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Ratings are what keep tv channels alive. If Endemol and Channel 4 didn't care about the ratings, then they wouldn't make the program. Voting makes them some money, but in the grand scheme of things the money they make from voting is nothing. Ratings are what matter the most.

I haven't checked for a while so I'm not sure, but is there any competition at all this summer for BB8? Last I heard, ITV were putting the focus on dramas this summer. This shouldn't be a problem for BB, especially if it's moving back to the 10pm slot (which I think is looking increasingly likely).

That probably means it will be up against the news on at least one of the channels. Considering you can watch the news 24/7, there may not be a lot of competition. We may have some highlights in the 5 millions.
By the way, I know it's unlikely, but do you have the figues for any of the BB1 and BB2 saturday shows? You know when they recapped the whole week?

I've searched high and low for them, but I couldn't find them. Sorry.

Yeah I agree about the news. The ratings are going to be very interesting this year. There's hardly any competition. Also, I think a lot of people will tune into the launch, especially after the racism uproar. I think people will watch to see what happens next. BB has a free reign this year by the looks of things and it has a lot going for it. It's just up to the producers to pick some good housemates and give us a good show.

I've just been having a look at C4's schedule. There's quite a lot of blank spaces so it's pretty impossible to work out when the show will launch.

I still think it will launch on Thursday 31st. They could even go for Wednesday 30th, but it would clash with The Apprentice on that night so the launch would have to start at 10pm. Previous series have launched at 10pm, so I suppose they could go for this. My ideal date and the one that I think would be perfect, is Monday 28th May. People would then have the whole week to discuss it at work and the media would have the week to build up interest etc. It would also help boost the weekend ratings. I doubt very much that they'll go for that date though. I think it will be the 31st.

I think the only reality show Itv are shoing this summer is Hells Kitchen.I cant see that being a problem as the second series was poor ratings wise and lets face it without Gordon Ramsay on board its rubbish.

Looks like bb will air in the 10pm slot because there are a few 9pm slots filled through out the week with The F Word etc.

I can see evictions on a friday being a problem because of Ugly Betty being a hour long and also the Friday Night Project.
It could work by cutting the first show back to half hour and starting at 8.30pm like bb1-bb4.

8.30pm-bb eviction
9.00pm-ugly Betty
10.00pm-bb eviction
!0.35pm-Friday night Project

However i cant see them cutting the first show back to half hour.

I agree about Hell's Kitchen - I don't think it's anything to worry about. Will the contestants be celebrities or members of the public? The only thing that I think might be a problem is 'Britain's Got Talent'. It starts on ITV in June and has Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden as judges. I don't really think it will do too well though as it involves jugglers, actors, animals etc and I just don't think viewers will take to it, but I could be proved wrong. Last I heard though, this show was only lasting a week, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem for BB even if it does do well. Also, I can't really see ITV putting a show like that in the 10pm slot, so it may not face BB at all.

As for evictions being a problem on Friday - I think you could be right! Ugly Betty has quite a few more episodes left I think and runs into June. Plus there's the Friday Night Project and a few other shows starting as well. We discussed in the last thread about them moving evictions due to the bad Friday night ratings. I really hope that this could mean they are moving them. To be honest though, I think they'll just shuffle things around and keep the evictions on Fridays. Would be good if they moved them though.

Hells kitchen is with celebs this year.

I also cant see Britians Got Talent being much of a success for many reasons.Firstly am i right in saying that its almost the same as When Will I be Famous which aired earlier this year, well if that is the case going by the ratings for WWIBf it doesnt give much hope for BGT.Secondly X-Factor Battle Of The Stars wasnt that much of a success and that is one of Itv's biggest shows which makes me think if the X-Factor cant dent bb ratings then neither will BGT.

Well, it's May 4th tomorrow and we still don't have any news on a launch date. It's frustrating, but I'm liking it better this way. No news is good news!

It's looking more likely that launch will be in June.

I've read that there's chaos behind the scenes at the moment. The construction work on the house is behind schedule, producers can't agree over which HM's to to send in and apparently Endemol aren't happy that Channel 4 have demanded another 13 week series. There's also confusion as to how many applicants are left as potential housemates and by all accounts, none have been sent into hiding yet. Same rumour said that the real eye has been leaked so a slightly altered version has been designed. And it also said that no serious talks have been entered into about who will present BBBM. Producers have only got as far as contacting agents but have not discussed specific details with anyone as yet.

I have the feeling that the silence isn't really because they are trying to keep things quiet, but is actually because nothing is concrete yet.

I cant see how they can be behind on the building of the house.

In bb3 they had around five months to build a house from nothing and this was all done on time.I know cbb was longer this year but in fact it was only two or three days longer than cbb4.

There needs to be some sort of teaser with in the next few days because many people are giving up on the show because of there being no news.

As for the series being 13 weeks well that has got to be a huge mistake.Did they not learn from bb7 that 13 weeks didnt work and it should be 11 weeks max.I know it might seem as taking a step back by making the show shorter but it would be worth it in the long run.
Last year the last few weeks dragged on and this was why the twist to vote an ex hm back in came about. They cant really do anything like that this year as the show will get ripped apart in the media and will only turn the public away.

I know what you mean. I'm not a fan of 13 weeks either. Nothing has been confirmed yet though, and I doubt it will be that long this year. It was obvious last year that both the viewers and the production crew struggled with the length of the series. It might not be reduced by much, but I believe it will definitely be reduced.

As for there being a crisis behind the scenes - I definitely don't believe that. I think they are meaning to keep things quiet. They've refurbished seven houses over the years, so they know how to plan and do it all in time. I think they are keeping quiet on purpose, and the more they keep secret the better in my opinion. I'm not too worried about the teasers - they HAVE to promote the show, so sooner or later we'll see the adverts.

Michelle's (BB5) latest entry on her blog on her official website states that she is filming for a show called 'Big Brother - Where Are They Now?', which will obviously air in the lead up to the launch of BB8. Now, if they have time to film brand new shows (I'm glad they are, as I'm sick of 'Funniest Moments', 'Top 10 Housemates' etc), then somehow I can't see the production for BB8 being too far behind schedule, if at all.

By the way, I read this news on another thread. Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone thought I made a habit of visiting Michelle Bass' website and reading her blog !

Just had a look at the schedules, and it seems there's a lot of blank spaces in the evening on the 24th and 25th. I suppose one of these days could be the launch. I thought we would have heard a bit more by now though if that was the case.
