Children's Shows loaded with Innuendo!

I can't rem what it was, but the other week I was watching old reruns of childrens show I watched when I was younger (yes, I have that much free time!) and I can't believe how much innuendo is used.
Seen as they are children's shows written by adults etc... they have to keep themselves amused etc... and there is so much and some of it, taken the wrong way could be v.rude.
I will try and find some, what does anyone else think?

Rainbow's notorious, as is Maid Marian and her Merry Men, which was filled with innuendo and adult jokes.

Most of goes over children's heads anyway.

Loved Maid Marian and her Merry Men!

I remember being quite surprised to hear some innuendo on Chucklevision last year too! You might find my thread on it if you search the forum!

The Chuckles were running a B&B and had an astronomer staying the night.
He said he'd be out all night, and they asked if he was stargazing or something, to which he replied something like:
"Yes... I'm hoping to sneak a look at Uranus later..."

Did make me laugh though!

I like that everytime anything to do with astronomy is ever mentioned on anything the 'Uranus' joke ALWAYS crops up. It's even in one of the Harry Potter books. And the doctor on Futurama says people got so sick of that joke that in the 24th Century (or whatever) they officially changed Uranus's name...to Urectum.

I think it might be to keep the parents amused as it's the same with children's film. One that comes to mind is Happy Feet where the father penguin tells the baby one to watch his beak as he crawls under him. All the guys in the audience laughed followed by a chorus of 'Dad what's funny?' from the kids.

Rainbow (as broadcast) was actually always very nice and innocent - it was only the Christmas tapes made for the technician's parties that were rude (I think they did two, the infamous "twangers" one, and a more obvious sweary one).

I'm wondering how long before the Captain Pugwash urban myth surfaces in this thread ...

Just wrong... "she didn't like my plucking instrument" was the best line

My Parents are Aliens is another, although that is intended for a slightly more mature audience anyway.

Gilbert the alien(voiced by Phil Cornwall) always seemed a little near the knuckle on occasions!

I was watching Balamory the other week (with my daughter!) and there was a story about a pantomime horse.
Suzie Sweet was the front and Archie said to her:

"in true family tradion i'll take it from the rear"

or words to that effect. Anybody else seen that one? If not keep an eye on CBeebies for it...

I'm pleased Cobaltmale mentioned Captain Pugwash, that programme is/was full of innuendo...
I'm sure everyone knows the most famous names in that programme...

I recall Blue Peter's Simon Groom talking to an expert on door knockers at York Minster and saying appreciatively,

"Mmm - What a beautiful pair of knockers."

Round the bend was brilliant. Loved Thunderpants spoof of thundercats, rocked on every level!
