mum and dad held up at gunpoint on holiday!!

my mum and dad went on holiday with their best friends, friends daughter,son-in-law and their 2 little girls
they got back at the weekend and told me that on wednesday they went for a meal with their friends leaving the daughter,son-in-law and kids in the appartment
2 armed men broke in knocked the son-in-law out and then tied him and his wife up taking all cash, cameras, jewelery etc
they were terrified and thought that they would take or hurt the kids
when the others got back they held guns to my mums and her friends head and made them hand over all their things
luckily the son-in-law broke free and the men fought with them and they than ran away with all their things
no one was hurt apart from a bump on a head
i was shaking when mum was telling me,just thinking about what could of happened, the police dont think they will get their things back, but its like i said to mum it is only stuff, they all came home

Depends how old the OP is...maybe they didnt want them worrying their nut off? I'm not sure i'd want to know (as much as i love my family) till they came back, else i'd be stressing every minute of the day till they returned.

Thats a terrible thing to have happened

I would have done exactly the same if that had happened to me (us).

Much better to tell something that worrying face to face.

There is a LOT of crime against tourists in Barbados, although they like to play it down. We were there 20 years ago and took one of these open jeeps to tour around. We heard of some people on the same road being held up at knifepoint. Several times, we were stopped by guys just standing at the side of the road offering pebbles for sale - we were advised to give them some money, or they'd turn nasty, and we always did. I didn't feel safe there, and if I went back, I'd stay in a gated resort. It's caused by poverty, of course, but doesn't help if you get robbed!
