Actually I must confess I rather enjoy such threads

Heart 106.2 used to be a regular catch in Burton -on- Trent (thats well over 100 miles north of London) on a hi-fi upstairs and available pretty much all the time to anyone with a roof aerial.

Century 106 (ironically now Heart) put paid to that, but it still goes a fair way up the M1.

You can hear Heart 106.2 near Cambridge, although there are probs at times, when travelling on the M11, with adjacent channel interference from Kiss on 106.4 (Mendlesham).

Of course also on Sky Digital 0124, Virgin Media, Freeview and online, at http://www.heart1062.co.uk/heart1062

It goes much further than that - certainly down to past Basingstoke.

And I've picked it up on the Isle of Wight a few times too!

More difficult now Original 106.0 is on air from Chillerton.

I've picked up Heart 106.2 very well in Stow-On-The-Wolds, Gloucestershire. The 100.7 version from Sutton C comes in there too of course.

Any kind of lift and 106.2 is one of the usual suspects here in Cheltenham...and it's Wold, not Wolds, you furriner! Us Glawstershire people get picky about that!

Have you tried putting it on 1062.5?

Do you think? I still find Heart (sadly) stronger than Original coming down the M3 and all the way to Festival Place car park in the town centre!

I find the Solent stations come in best around the A30 turn when the London signals start fading

And down the M1 too... it's not uncommon to pick up 106 around Luton way!

I've listened to Heart 106.2 as far out as Ashford in Kent too, just before French radio drowns it out (106.2 is also France Bleu Nord from Calais)

If you go down the A2 just pased Faverham you loose heart, again the french station gets much stronger.

Yes, that's the real issue in 'how far'- co channel stations.

Very few stations nowadays have a clear channel to go as far as the signal would 'naturally'

105.1 Galaxy Emley Moor was one of the last, getting pretty much into the northern suburbs of Birmingham before you lost it on the car radio.

I can hear Heart on 106.25 in Bournemouth at the side of Original 106, but only on my tuner at home with my Triax aerial. Its there all the time but not really listenable unless there are tropo conditions running towards London. BBC London 94.9 comes through all the time down here and sometimes Capital. On high ground around here I can hear the London FM stations in the car, but not in the town.

Well I may or may not have put this one in the atmospherics thread but I have once had this here in Newcastle but 106.2 is usually occupied by Real Radio Yorks. On another London freq. I did manage Virgin 105.8 a few years ago. But that was during a large tropo opening into Europe, so doesn't really count.

I can get in Cambridgeshire on DAB. Arqiva are doing test transmissions from Madingley for DMD on 10C, both Heart 106.2 and 100.7 are on the MUX.
