Orange BB...no connection after 7:30pm every night!

Hey all,

Since last Thursday evening, my connection goes off completely around 7:30pm every night...and is off most of it.

Roughly 7:30pm every night! What is this? Do they set it to an alarm clock or something?

"Hey, it's 7:30pm, let's turn off these people's connections"

Tonight...if it happens, and I hope it don't...it will be a week since it started.

Can't even get through to their CS to complain, as they are so busy every single night and day.!

Is anyone else been experiencing this since last Thursday?

Regards,

I've checked other forums, and it seems a wide spread thing in London over the past week.

Hope it's fixed soon.

Same here - do we get a rebate for the lost service? and a refund of 45 minutes phone call waiting to be told that "there is a problem in the London area but our engineers are working day and night to sort it out" !!!

I've had the same problem too I was told that if I contacted the billing dept they would be "happy" to refund my account, but I haven't called them yet. I'm waiting to see how long it takes to get fixed, so I can work out how many hours I've paid for that I'm not gettting.

Just to add insult to injury, as it were, I got a call yesterday from one of their sales reps, asking if I would like to subscribe to their "unlimited" broadband package.I laughed out loud

Finally got online with Orange tonight for the first time since last Wednesday. The annoying thing is I was in the middle of selling on ebay and as usual people send a cheque with no name or address so i have had to wait a week to be able to post things to them. Or they just give the item number expecting me to have a photographic memory for several 12 digit numbers. Strewth. I expect some people have lost businesses over this farago and a lot of people will be looking for a new provider. That's why i'm here - to look for recommendations for an alternative. Virgin? Well at least they have a face.

Only took a week to solve.

There was an outage in the greater london area, affecting around 1,000 people. I was told it was an authentication issue - you'll probably see PPP server down or Invalid ADSL authentication when it goes down.

PPP server down affects loads of people, though

Shame on Orange for keeping their heads down and not issuing an apology in the press. Don't want the negative publicity I suspect. Sod the lot of us.

Well, if you've got a problem and you don't make anyone aware of it, good luck getting any kind of refund backdated. That's just your own stupidity for not enquiring about your service if it doesn't work.

That's advice btw.

I'd say it's common sense more than anything else.

If I had a problem, especially if I was paying for a service, I wouldn't expect anyone else to be aware of my specific problem when there's so many variables in the process, particularly for broadband, unless I'd actually told the provider in question about the problem.

Staying quiet in the hope of getting more 'compensation', just doesn't make me believe the customer actually wants a working service, they just want to complain about a non working service.

Basic common sense really.

More like ignorance to people having problems with their connection no wonder people are leaving Orange in droves a disgrace of a company and you post things like that to people paying good money to a company that doesn't give a monkeys.
If you do work for Orange perhaps your too used to threatening people that they are in contract and will not get a MAC etc a total disgrace which is gradually coming to light going by most major forums.

Maybe you should read up on your 'facts'.

A MAC code can be, must be, by law(!) given at any time a customer requests one, whether in contract or not.

Sorta p1sses on your argument there don't it.

Exactly my point and most people just interested in a broadband connection don't know that Orange agents are still telling people that no provider will accept an LLU MAC etc its a total disgrace fortunately most orange subscribers wanting to leave are realising its a load of bull.

Oh, so you work for Orange? You've consistantly heard this for yourself? You represent the entire customer base who are allegedly being told that other providers wont accept a MAC code? Even though thats not what you said to begin with. You said MAC codes weren't being given, now you've changed that to MAC codes wont be accepted?

Could you elaborate on you earlier comments (as detailed in my post above). I'm still not sure why you change your questioning, or why you seem to make out you're privvy to (or maybe you're one of those 'know it alls' who doesn't actually know the true facts, just make it up from what you imagine actually happens) users being told they can't have a MAC code, then blatantly changing your stance when I caught you out with your 'facts', to users being told MAC codes wont be accepted by certain other ISPs.

Which one is it?

Im afraid i don't work to a script and after a bit of research it seems you do work for Orange.
MACS were compulsary since february which Orange agents were refusing MACs and STILL are knowing a lot of their subscribers are not experienced and just want a BB connection and don't know that fact as is in a lot of posts on many forums you really should be ashamed of yourself.

I requested a MAC code from Orange and was told it would be emailed to me within 5 days. It wasn't so I had to phone them up and ask for it again.

They may by law have to provide one, but it seems that they still don't manage to do it.

I am now with VM and have interruption free connections every evening, it's bliss! I recommend to the OP to move as quickly as possible.

There really is no answer to your posts, you've already proved you don't have a grasp on what you're actually trying to convey, whether it be fact or fiction, from what I've read in your posts, I'm not sure, but I'm am sure that you have a highly active imagination and a loose grip on the facts.

Research? You read a post that I, that's me, myself wrote mere minutes ago? You should be a private dIck with that kind of mind!
