Radio Caroline

Can Caroline continue as a listener supported station, or can she somehow manage to get advertising, and expand when technology allows?

Radio Caroline is, for the time being, no longer operational.

I can only assume you are writing about the imposter located in Maidstone ?

Much as I would love to support Caroline, until they get back some of their real pros (and I'm thinking of Tom Anderson in the main, even if it was only once a week) then I'm afraid that it just doesn't float my boat.

And maybe that's the problem, it always sounded so much more life-and-death when it broadcast from the N Sea.

But I know that many people appreciate the current version so I don't want to be seen as merely sniping at a no doubt worthwhile attempt to keep going.

Tom Anderson was back at Easter for a one off show. It will be good to hear him much more regularly - think there may be plans for him to do more shows soon.

Bob Lawrence is back late on Satuday nights - another great Caroline jock from the past.

I'm sure I read in Horizon magazine that they were definitely keeping their EPG number, I think it was the March/April issue, infact they were boasting that the doubters got it wrong and they have the money in place.

Caroline could continue quite easlily if them found themselves 2 guys (who like tea parties), who haven't a clue about radio, but have got more cash than they know what to do with in their bank accounts. At least £50k per month should do it...

Well I am pleased that Radio Caroline is still with us.I have listened since the 1960's through her good and bad times and have enjoyed most of what I have heard on the station.
I don't listen too much to Caroline nowadays as their format is a bit too narrow for my tastes in music, but I am glad the lady continues to this day.

I have to wonder whether Caroline now is a bit like Trigger's broom from Only Fools and Horses - "I've had it thirty years, and it's had seven new heads and eleven new handles..."
