Best British Soap 2007 - It's Deserving Year in Overview
So as you all know the winner of the Best British Soap. If not and you don't want to look away now. So the winner was
So what plots led up to this award, I shall now look at Corrie's year since the soap awards last May. Charlie Stubbs was never everyone's best love Neighbour. Especially when he bought the Harris house and evicted the residents. Which sent Craig and Keith back down south, only for Rosie's Romeo to return then plan to run away to Berlin. With some special scenes in Paris with the return of Bill Webster, Craig gave a tearful goodbye. So Charlie and Tracy eventually moved into to No. 4 but his cheating caught up with him when Tracy found he was having it off with Maria in his flat. He had become deranged to seduce and broke in many times and once trashed the place. However, Tracy's brawl in the Street with Maria didn't settle her anger and she set about planting hints of domestic abuse which Claire picked up on. Eventually she killed him one night but with all the evidence, and seducing David Platt she still went down for murder. Shelley had already left by the time Charlie had died, but not before getting knocked up by him one night in the pub. Bev was distraught but she was even more devasted when Fred died on their wedding day as her went to visit his lover, Audrey. So Bev moped around the bar for a while with half of friend whilst she gave Ashley the other half in a tin can to scatter. Eventually they agreed and scaterred his ashes in the forest. Fred's death wasn't Ashley's only trauma this year. There was the heartache of letting Matt Ramsden have access to Joshua and then Matt delivered baby Thomas - later remained Freddie. But Claire grew distant with her PND and pushed Freddie into the road and tried to take him back to the hospital. Ashley eventually had to have her sectioned. When she arrived back on the Street, she was the innocent victim of her neighbour's wicked ways as she noted everything down in her book and she continued her helping ways through a charity and met up with Casey. Unfortunately, her new neighbours weren't much better than her old ones and after several rows about music she flipped. However, if this had anything to do with her house fire and baby Freddie's disappearance we don't know ... Eileen was always there as a helping hand to Claire but she had even more problems when the baby dropped off on Christmas turned out to be Charlie's after all and had to eventually give baby Holly/Chloe back to Emma. She also had trouble with her other child though in Jason when he jilted Sarah at the alter. Another event, Gail Platt was stricken by. David was turning against her and was gradually going more and more off the rails especially when he blackmailed Tracy Barlow, got plunged in a bath thanks to Mr Stubbs and reminisced over Ivy Tilsley's diary at the kitchen table at Christmas where Maureen also turned up to find Bill very cosy with Audrey. Another person who left was Leanne Battersby after leaving behind Mike's last will causing mayhem. Danny was none to pleased but thought he'd found solace in Frankie's arms when it turned out the she was actually in love with her step son - a canal fight followed. Violet suspected something in her boyfriend's (Jamie's) behaviour and sent Sean on the sent who came to the conclusion that he might be gay, although the strain was too much for poor Violet who suffered and ectopic pregnancy. Sean also was searching for his father and then for love in the shape of old flame Sonny who was at the time going out with new best friend Michelle although she was pining for Steve. She was a new arrival to the Street this year with her graffiti making son, Ryan tow. His father Dean had died in a car crash by the hands of his uncles which Michelle soon unconvered thanks to Carla after the pressure got too much for her after Kasia died during the night shift. Carla has now found a new friend in the form of hooker Leanne. Another new character has been Becky who framed her ex-friend Kelly earlier in the year. Roy and Hayley took her under her wing, but when she stole their new car they turned their back on her and believed her to have caused a fire at the cafe. It turned out to be an electrical fault and she was then rehired. So quite a busy year then! Well done on 2006-2007 and your award Coronation Street!

well deserved, im surprised eastenders didnyt get as much cos they usually do! but prefer corries storylines. First time i thought emmerdale would get more, they have had a superb year, but some may say 'over the top' im glad they gt spectaculr scene of the year for the house collapse, also i didnt think there truck crash was spectacular?

I was shocked Corrie won, because everybody was going to into the "Hollyoaks" mode this year. The Tracey/Charlie story won it for Corrie this year. The Jamie/Danny/Frankie love triangle was awful, and Fred's Death was so badly done (They shouldn't have killed him off in the first place).
I'm quite happy Corrie won though, as the murder storyline has been one of the best in a while. |

I definitely think that Claire has come into her own over the last year and is portrayed by a fantastic actress.

I'm happy that Corrie won. Overall I think it's been a weak year for all the Soaps except Hollyoaks. But Hollyoaks will never be allowed to win best soap.
One thing is for certain though. Antony Cotton shouldn't have one best Actor, he is terrible. The scenes between him Michelle and Sonny should that. Up against the likes of Perry Fenwick and James Sutton he shouldn't have won. Same for Kate Ford she is also dreadful. Up against June Brown and she won
