Is it so wrong to name my cat Doris...

I have just got my first kitten, She is a 13 week old Bengal but my OH thinks Doris is not right...

I think it's an ace name.

Doris the Tiger.

And she's right. it's not the sort of name you'd give to a cat. Give it some dignity for petes sake.

But if it's your choice, it's your choice.

Lovely kitten.

No, it's not wrong to call your cat Doris if it pleases you. Neither, respectfully, is it a very interesting topic for discussion. It doesn't mean anything to the cat. My cat responds to the expression "are you hungry", far more enthusiastically than to her actual name.

She's gawj, and screamed Enid at me. I think it was the Enid Sharples expression. Doris will do very nicely though

The only rule would be, never name your cat (or dog or kids etc) something you would be embarassed to shout in the street

Doris is a fantastic name

I soo want a Bengal, but we're waiting until our eldest cat has passed. It wouldn't be fair on him. He isn't terribly impressed with the new Puppy Buffy.

Doris is a fine name (for a cat) However I could never call any cat of mine Doris - it just brings back too many bad memories. My ex was called Doris! And she was a right trollop ... so I found out.

That's a nice little kitten btw. A huge picture too.

Yes indeed, but those 'old people' were young once upon a time.

Thanks guys, Doris it is then.

I met my OH on DS, so it follows that my first cat will be named on here too, though Doris just makes me giggle...

... Doris seems apt as they love water and we are expecting a male soon as well.

ps. My OH is not called Doris as well.

We have three cats. My husband named our first cat Miss Kitty after a character from the old "Gunsmoke" TV western series. We named Bogie after Humphrey Bogart because Bogie acted like a little tough guy. And we named our third cat Cuddles becuase cuddling is all she wants to do.

You look at your pet and watch for personality traits, and a name just pops into your mind. If Doris is the name that you thought would fit her, than that should be her name.

Unless your OH is gay he has no business naming a cat .. tell him to get a dog and stop being so light on his feet

If you get another one then you can call that one Boris. Only problem is that since they sound the same (which is the point of this...) the cats will get confused since their names are so similar and thats not good.

She's a hairless Chinese Crested. But she does need a little shave to keep her to show standard.

Teddy Bear head LOL

I thought about Boris earlier.

But discounted it for the same reason.

We (I) thought about Bertram. Herbert or Reg for the male... nice working class no nonsense names.

I don't want them acting posh.

Plus I don't want to be in the vets and have to listen out for "Sweetyqueenshebatoffypantskins, the Vet will see you now"
