Doesn't the lack of sound get on your nerves !!!

My brother and his girlfriend came round yesterday and she had Big Brother on all day. Now although I wasn't taking much notice of it, all I could hear was bloody airplane & bird noises.

Now I understand they have to cut certain things due to copyright/legal issues. But from what I've seen so far it's 5 seconds of audio then bird noises then a few seconds of audio which quickly got turned into airplane sounds. I mean what's the point of anybody watching.

At one point they even put the airplane noises on when nobody was even talking.

In the hour I was in the room before walking out 95% of the audio was blocked out with these stupid sound effects.

"Do you want a cup of tea"...... tweet tweet tweet tweet, zoooooooom (my attempt at airplane noises) tweet tweet tweet.... 10 minutes later......... "That was a nice cup of......." tweet tweet tweet tweet." followed by random shots of the cameras, chairs e.c.t..

And people are glued to this X%$£#@*....

Wouldn't be so bad if you could hear what they are saying or if they did stuff worth watching.

But watching a bunch of wannabes sun bathing all afternoon while listening to Big Brother's version of the birdy song in MY OPINION is crap TV.

Most of the Ziggy's Date task was audible. The only dipped bits were when they were discussing anything about people outside the house and/or libellous, and of course, the bits they want to save for the highlights show. Hate the way they do this!
Also, I always think, when the sound dips, why can't they just cut to another conversation taking place elsewhere in the house?

There could be an element of self-protection at play, too. A lot of material that is discussed on the forums (and picked up on by the lazy media) is from the live feed and sometimes contradicts story-lines that make the highlights shows.

Not acceptable, of course, to censor for those reasons, and some of the cuts are utterly bizarre. I suspect there is a nodding bird in charge of pressing the key

I don't know why they bother with the live feed. I can't watch it, and yes they do cut the sound when no-ones talking, it's pathetic.

It seems to me that the sound dips are not all for legal\slander\copyright reasons either.

I think a lot of them happen when something interesting is being said. They cut this out so they can use it on the edited show and we can't leak the information on here.

Since the increase in Freeview boxes with HD recorders and uploading to youtube, Endemol/Channel 4 find it more and more difficult to police our point of view of their Big Brother world and it's contrived soap opera style story lines. This has even made them at times deny the existence of actual things thousands of us have seen, in CBB5 for example. Go get a book on bird song out from your local library as I would expect progressively more and more sound dips to come.

Well I'm shocked, I thought i'd get flamed for posting a ANTI-BB comments.

I've had it on since Sunday, just out of interest and again every time somebody spoke the sound was cut.

Now i've nothing what so ever AGAINST Big Brother fans, but i'm just interested to know HOW you can put up with it. I know theres fans who are glued to it 24/7 EVEN when they sleep, but if I watched more then 30 minutes of the live show I'd go MAD.

Is it true that the Live BB feed is on a 10 minute delay?

I can't watch the LF - the noises off drive me mad. What I can't understand is when there is a houseful of people why when they have to stop the sound why don't they move to a camera view of someone else. Surely with so many camera's and presumably several technicians on hand this should be a relatively easy task

Even a long shot of the whole garden / loung / bedroom showing all the HM's would deter lip reading and at least maintain some (albeit small) interest.

Why is it when Cable TV uses PIN encryption for things like OnDemand and Sky Movies, it cant use it for an 'Adult Language' LiveStream from the house on the Red Button feature?

Is that too complicated for their feeble little minds or is it too much bother and expense for them?

(And yes I know that certain things like family members and other people outside the house who have not given consent cannot be discussed and broadcast - but the adult language could - then we wouldnt miss half of what they say!)

Worse every year. At this rate it’ll soon be a Hal Roach Production.

It is annoying, for sure. I do understand why they have to do it, but its why I will never fork out for the live feed pass thingie.
