New account, different address

Hi I've had Sky before at my parents house in my name and coming out of my back account. I've just moved into a house of my own and want Sky there. I've changed the payment details via "My Sky" to my parents back account but I assume the account is still in my name. (Can the whole account be changed across or would they need to cancel and re-subscribe? Not sure)

Anyway, I went through the online ordering and it said I can't order it if "you or anyone in your household" has had it before. There is no dish at my new house, and doesn't look like there has ever been one. Can I still get Sky in my own name at my new house, using my own bank details even though I've had it in m name at my parents house?

yeah you basically just need a moving house deal. you transplant the sky from your parents place to your new place. have your box and remote and stuff. the installer will put in a dish and plug you all up.

they have a moving home department, call cust serv to get put thru to them.

Phone Sky and enquire about the home moving services. As Valleyman00, they offer a moving home service where they will setup your Sky at your new home. That way, your parents can then subscribe to Sky themselves if they want.

It is very hard to get Sky to change the account holders name (I don't know the exact reasons why). There have been occasions in the past where people have wanted to change the account holders name for legit reasons, and it's been a nightmare to get Sky to do it, if they do it.

I'm pretty sure it will say somewhere in the terms and conditions that the account cannot be transferred to another person.

Why not just cancel it at your folks place if your outside your 12 month contract then resign up at you new home and get a free new system installed.

That was the original question. The problem is they may not let him as he has already subscribed before.

If the old account at your parents place is out of 12 month minimum contract, I would suggest you just cancel it.

Your parents will still be able to receive all these channels free and if they want Sky subscribtion channels they can get a new install from Sky.

You can get a new install at your new address - forget you were previously a Sky customer and don't confuse things by mentioning it to Sky.

Take a look at this and this offer.

i never understood why people bother with that for the hassle. just lets be sneaky and do one over on sky. why not ask for exactly what you want.

i had a nightmare of b'band (due to tiscali's mistake not sky's FYI) after 3 months it was all good. i called them up and said why should i have faith in sky. they said tell you what, all calls you made to sky, plus 3 months credit of b'band max was given to me.

they gave the logical reason of give it that time. if it doesnt meet your standards then you will be allowed to cancel.

2 week into it and i was a happy bunny as it was awesome speed and i havent looked back.

sky will bend over backwards if you are just up front with them and try not 'be smarter' than them. i guarantee they've heard all the excuses and i bet the folk at sky would find it refreshing to deal with honesty rather than subterfuge.

Why not get a new install?

Nice new box and leave the old box with the parents.

Don't mention you've had Sky before, don't give them a previous address, and use a different bank account.

I've also used the home moving service too though, you take your box and remote and they install a dish.

I've also moved to where there was already a dish, so it was simply a case of me taking my box and remote and connecting it up.
