I don't think Charley was milking it. Her behaviour was understandable!

I did post this in another thread but thread died.
I've noticed how much of a backlash Charley is getting and hearing a lot of- 'She's doing a Shilpa Shetty' and 'She's milking it' which is probably why she's getting booed (which is idiotic in itself)

Regardless of how Emily meant it's worth looking at what she 'actually' said again to understand Charley's 'confused' reaction throughout the night!

I didn't watch the show last night but watched the repeat. I couldn't hear what she said properly on the repeat because it was silenced out. I asumed it was just Emily getting over excited and using the word (foolishly) in the pop reference sense. Having just watched it again on You Tube -
Charley says "I feel pregnant" refering to her belly feeling bloated.
Emily from out of nowhere says - "You're pushing it out you n***er!"
Which puts Charley's reaction throughout the night (and the next day) in context.
Charley tries to rationalise it but the way it was said wasn't in context to anything 'friendly'. It wasn't "what's up ma n**ga" during a dance or said quoting a song or anything in that context. It was a direct statement "You're pushing it out you N***er!"

I've noticed people latching on to the theory that Charely was stirring trouble and milking it (which is an odd theory in itself) but having watched it, Charley was genuinly confused as to how she meant it. Was it a joke? A statement? why did she say those words and in that way?...because joke or not, to me it sounded very much like the raw original sense of the word and used in it's original offensive context.

Not trying to demonise Emily or turn her ignorance into something more sinister (I don't know the girl and only she knows how she meant it) but it sounded dodgy enough to justify Charley's reaction over the 2 days!

Sorry couldn't read the entire post. From what I did notice and by the title of your thread, I agree with you. If anyone has been milking a situation it isn't Charlie.

There's a reason why the previous thread died. No-one was interested.

I didn't think she was milking it either - she actually seemed very shocked. I think she was really hurt by it, unsuprisingly enough. Imagine being with someone you thought was a friend who called you a name like that. Nasty.

I think it was the betrayal that really shook Charley. She was getting closer to Emily, and that really hurt her. If it had been some loser in the street she would probably have shrugged it off more quickly.

Is right Bob. Everyone on here has spent 2 days trying to figure out why Emily said it, what were her intentions etc so it's perfectly understandable that the person who it was directed at would do the same... yet for some reason people seem to think we can talk about it endlessly but Charley should just shut up. I don't get it.

Sorry to have wasted all your precious 'non interested' time of opening the thread reading it and posting on it!

Thanks for the bump though!

I think Charley will live a mostly unhappy life. She never seems content or at ease with anything or anyone. What a moaning muppet she is.

I would believe Charlie's feelings more if she hadn't kept going on about how much coverage she would recieve in the daily newspapers.

No one can really understand how she really feels but last night after the incident she didn't seem that bothered in fact would go as far to say that it was Nicky who was more perterbed about what was said.

I can't help feeling that when Charlie was crying initially it was more out of guilt but when everyone thought she was crying because of what was said she turned it around to her advantage.

Maybe i'm getting cynical in me old age

True, I thought she was genuinely shocked by the whole thing... until she started talking about how much coverage she would receive in the newspapers.

Everybody including me who dislike Charley and have from the start had every sympathy with her over Emily-gate.

But she then went on and on and ON about it to every person in that house at a different time to get their views on it and went round and round the actual word Emily used (without saying it) until they all got it. She then moved onto everyone else to repeat the story but on the other hand contradicting herself by saying she didn't want to go on about it! And then did go on about it over and over. Sometimes with tears.

Milking it? Absolutely.

Given Charley's self-obsession, it's likely she'll try and use every situation to her advantage.

If you listen to what Charley said it wasn't meant in the positive sense. She said "There's going to be a picture of me all over the papers with what Emily said right above it"

Have a little think and you'll realise what she meant!
Hardly positive is it!

Unfortunately, now I'm pretty sure she is milking it, because she believes so strongly that she will be the 'victim' plastered all over the front pages....
She comes from London, a place where only people who grab any opportunity succeed. She would not have got where she is now if she was any other way - there is far too much competition. I am just amazed at the extent to which she manages to exploit the incident - that is a talent in itself [although one which I do not admire].
She wants to win [or at least become famous from this], and so who can blame her for trying to turn it into a 'Shilpa Shetty' incident?

I agree, Bluntbob, Charley wasn't Milking it and even if she was, why shouldn't she? She didn't ask to be called the N word.

I think Charley is one of the most calculating individuals ever to enter the BBH. Her whole persona is contrived....every move is pre-planned.

I think she was hurt as well. This is why she wants to exhibit her mourning for all to see on the front cover of our quality dailies, The Star, The Sun and maybe The Mirror.
