106.7 is Mystery's second freq - not that they need it with 87.5 blasting over most of the south of East Anglia!

Perhaps they've decided to use 106.7 for something more productive

For synopsis click the top of the mast on the link, Not sure if it will in fact happen as there was a film planned about Radio 270 which disappeared without trace.

I think a film about Caroline is more likely to succeed than one about Radio 270. With 270 been a local Yorkshire pirate anchored of my town of Scarborough less people have heard of it but Radio Caroline is pretty much world famous.

Perhaps it will be an action film with the crew jumping from the Mi Amigo seconds before a big explosion which sinks the ship

If an American studio funds it, the MiAmigo / Ross Revenge will be anchored 20 miles off the coast of New York, the cast will include Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johanssen, and will involve a F16 attack.

With Robin Williams as Wolfman Jack, Howard Stern as himself and Hugh Grant as Harold Wilson.

Supposedly, this is actually somebody hijacking Mystery's link for a relay of Caroline.

No, not round here. Hope nobody tries it anyway. Caroline is legal and can be listened to other ways, and probably doesn't play any different music to most of the other legal stations anyway these days.

You obviously don't listen to Caroline then? If you did then you would realise that they do play different music to anyone else.

I haven't listened to Caroline (not been able to receive it unfortunately) for many years, until last week. Within half an hour I'd heard two of my very favourite songs - that I haven't heard on the radio in years (probably since Caroline left the air before), and many songs no-one else would play - both Caroline classics and new recordings.

One of the few stations that would play 'Earth and Fire' followed by 'Starsailor'.

Long may she continue in the spirit of 'The Lady'.

Earth and Fire were a Dutch group I think....that's why Caroline are different............You are more likely to hear Earth WIND and Fire on the usual dross oldie stations.

Exactly paul e...........I doubt many people who had never listened to Caroline, would even recognise the difference.

Not so my good man. People who listen to Caroline are music lovers and hear a wide variety of music. As Roger Day has quoted on many occasions, "There are only two kinds of music, good and bad". Caroline will play almost any kind of good music, regardless of genre.

I think maybe I didn't explain myself clearly enough. My point was that Radio Caroline is probably one of a very few stations that would play Earth and Fire (as opposed to Earth Wind and Fire), and Caroline listeners are probably the only listeners that would notice such a band even existed in the first place, and know the difference between the two.

Far from criticising Radio Caroline, as a life-long fan, I was actually praising them and their listeners!

The problem is with Radio Caroline, as it is today, is that the music it plays is far too obscure. It caters to a bunch of hippy anoraks. Its a far cry from the sixties, when it was a professionally run and and sounding CHR station that was the driving force behind Pop music radio. I mean even Radio 1 owes Caroline. It was also good in the 80's. When it was on 558 it had a great Top 40 format where it also played the classics.

To me the real Radio Caroline died when it stopped broadcasting from the ship. This satellite thing is an insult to the memory of the station... and nothing like the Radio Caroline.

Well, I have in the past when they've had RSLs from the Thekla (a club boat) here in Bristol, but that's a completely different kettle of fish to running a station that has to stay alive for more than a month. I would have thought they would change the music policy a bit to survive as others have to. Whereas they were playing obscure indie as an RSL, I would think they'd be playing more well-known chart indie as a full station.

I stand corrected. They still don't need people relaying them though.

Well, it's all subjective.

Well, good then. If Caroline continued to play the latest pop music and classics, they wouldn't be doing anything different to anybody else, as I thought was the case. If they play obscure, they are doing what they set out to do in the first place, playing music the legal stations won't touch.
