friends, you have NO idea what bb MANIPULATION can really be...

In no way do I want to sound aggressive or cocky, but the cases you discuss here pale in comparison to the horror that is BBBrazil...let's see....

a. From bbb 3 on, ALL tasks have been clearly manipulated to favour a group or a HM. really, no kidding. We can go down EVERY task which decided Head of Household (we have that crap here, mixed with public voting to off HM's) and we will see blatant cases of manipulation.

b. the producer annually choose who the heroes and the villains will be. ALL HM's ,except the ones chosen in a very suspicious telephone draw ,are young (no one over 32 need to apply), beautiful (never do we get normal people, only model-types), and intellectually-challenged.

The producers invent nicknames and make little cartoons depicting the "evil" ones and constantly show them.

c. The highlight last only five to twenty minutes daily and they only show one or two of the HM's (usually the 'heroes' or the 'villains')

d. the presenter of the show talks to the HM's constantly and shows himself in the house. he gives opinions and suggests what HM's must do. he also constantly chastizes them if they don't act a certain way.

e. there is no respect for the chronological arrangements of events. they show events out of order, and they edit them crassly, just to "prove a point" to the audience.

f. the "heroes" are allowed to leave the house, talk to people, be applauded by the masses and then return to the house with all the knowledge gathered in the outside world...what a difference from Vanessa's Tommy-esque situation when twisting her ankle!

so, i believe the British Public has a much more fair game than we do here...

just my 2 pennies worth...

cheers,
chico

Perhaps we should all switch to the BB USA style then. Don't get the public involved as they clearly don't know their arse from their elbow, let alone who's important for the series or not, and allow nominations talk as no HM ever gives a damn about the "no noms talk" rule anyway, nor will they ever do so in future.

Brazil_nuts, do you get live feed as well, or do you only get to see heavily edited highlights?

It does sound as if yours is too heavily manipulated and takes away the real game of it all.

commenting on comments...

first of all, thanks for the swift replies...

I don't advocate going to the US format, much on the contrary...I wish the Brazilian programme was as wonderful as the British (which I am completely addicted to, even living here with the timezone thing...)...

I wish ours was as rigorous as yours in terms of game play and rules...BUT i would let them discuss nominations. It's a natural element of such a game, and making it taboo, in my opinion, takes a bit out of the "game" aspect, and never really makes it a "social experiment" because playing games and competing ARE parts of social life.

I regards to live feed, we have it too,,but.... (there is always a but, innit?)

a. players don't HAVE to wake up with alarms,,,and almost every bloody night they get parties...(BTW, they never have food tasks...they just get loads of food without working for it). The live feed are basically a whole day with idiots sleeping...and

b. cameras focusing only on the "heroes"...sometimes the "villains" and never the others

The last two, I bought. I felt sooooooo ripped off.

mind you, they don't do sound dips...they just switch the cam to other people talking...

cheers,
chico.

And do people fall for that? People do here

Sounds like the live feed is more watchable in Brazil (as long as you want to watch the people being filmed).

What are eviction crowds in Brazil like? Are they told to chant, and chant certain words? Are certain banners regularly confiscated?

That's interesting to know. Shame we moan so much. The girl who plays Sky in 'neighbours' said the Austrailian version was very tame compared to ours on bblb too.

meesta marzipan:

there are no crowds....what they do is to invite family members of the two (only two are ever up for eviction -- one nominated by HoH and the other by inside voting) for the eviction night.

there is no conflict, no chanting apart from "hooray, XXXX will win" sort-of-thing... when there aren't any available family members or flying them would be really expensive, they just hire some hungry mobs and tell them to cheer randomly...booing is totally prohibited.

can you lot see why i have tried out for YOUR programme via the internet?

cheers,
chico

In the Brazilian BB, do they make it difficult for the housemates like ours and mess with their heads to cause reaction, or are they mainly left to just do their own thing?

Denise, and eight...

(eight) thank you for the kind feedback...

(denise)... nothing...nothing at all...no tasks, no weird mind-f***s, no secret missions,,,nothing nothing nothing...

the only time you see anything a bit more challenging is when you have the competition for HoH, albeit most of them are lucky draws (yuck!).

they rig the competition so blatantly it's shocking.
I'll give you a few examples...

when all of the GBP (general brazilian public) was endeared by the 'poverty' stories of Mara in bbb6, some HM's decided she was playing the poor card and wanted her to face eviction. Guess what BB does? they make the HoH task one in which HM's had to carry buckets of water on their heads for X hours.... (detail: she was a "clothes-washer" .. do you have this job in the UK?.. and carrying buckets on her head was second-nature).......

the other times are "resistance" tasks where they have to sit still or press a button for ages, etc. Mysteriously, it seems, all of the 'villain' buttons always work perfectly while the "heroes" never seem to .... so, when Diego, in bbb7, failed miserably to keep his light on, it was the machine's fault and he was allowed to return THREE hours after the rest of the competitors had started... needless to say, he won HoH and was allowed to save his "girlfriend" in the house...

etc. etc. etc.

I WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN BBUK 9 !!!! ahahahhahahaha

(i would definitely become a "villain" in bbb 9 ahahahah)

cheers,
chico
