A Small World

Do you find that you can't meet anyone who doesnt know someone you already know?

For example... I went to start my job not knowing anyone and a lady I work with went to school with my great-uncle.

I move into an apartment (a few years back) and find someone who was born on the same day in the same hopsital as me in the same apartment block

I meet mr looneybop and one his friends is at the same college as one of my friends

I never seem to meet brand new people

Does this happen to anyone else?

Oh, what a can of worms you've opened with that thread title.

Watch all 14 minutes and say you're very very very sorry.

It is amazing, I met someone today who was born exactly 5 years, 2 months, 3 weeks and 4 days before I was.

It's a small world after all...

My papa(on my mum's side)'s second cousin got married to my dad's uncle. If there hadn't had been a falling-out between my papa and his cousin, then my mum and dad would have met as children!

It was the 6 degrees conversation I had in the pub earlier that led me to make a post about the topic

I went on holiday once and had a fight with one of my ex-teachers there!

He was pissed. And I was of course stone cold sober, honest.

On hols my mother met one of her customers staying at the same hotel. I came across a woman I used to work with on the plane back from Menorca two years ago and on the way out my sister's friend was the air-hostess.

Just started a new job and someone in my team lives next door to my cousins, she also knows a few of the same people as me. Someone else on the team has a sister who was in my class at school. One of the others I used to work with years ago.

I also moved recently and discovered I bought the house from a friend of a friend and live next door to the brother of another friend (I never knew this). My neighbour the other side is the teaching assistant of the teacher who lives next door to my Mum.

Since I've had kids its got worse, everyone seems to know everyone, especially at out of school activities. I have always lived in the same area too, so that can decrease the social circle.

Damn, where did you come from? Right, I'm off to New Zealand (and will probably by fluke end up being neighbours with an ex-girlfriend).

A few years ago we went camping in France and my son got friendly with the boy who was in the caravan next door to us who was his age. After a few days we discovered they lived very close to where we live and the boys were both starting the same secondary school after the holidays.
