Peru's Machu Picchu, 2,430m (8,000ft) up a mountain slope, is the remains of an Inca city

First time I've seen a picture of this - first time I've even heard of it to be honest and it took my breath away

I have travelled a lot and seen a lot of famous sights - but I must say Stonehenge is probably the most disappointing and underwhelming place I've been.

It's an incredible sight - especially if you've just spent four days trekking there along the Inca Trail!

I agree there. Haven't the Brazilians heard of the ten Commandments & Graven images

I would have gone for Hagia Sofia instead

I was surprised that Petra in Jordan got onto the list , it was the only one I've never heard of.

I would have gone for Haghia Sophia (or Ankhor Wat) as well rather than the statue of Christ - although impressive I don''t think it is a wonder, whereas, the architectire, design and building skills - especially considering ehen they wer built - required for Haghia Sophia and Ankhor Wat are wonderful

I would have bumped it from the list as it's relatively modern i.e. 1931.

Same here. I really want to go see it now!

I'm glad Stone Henge never made it. Isn't it fake? I heard a rumour that it is.

I know it's physically real, but it was re-arranged or something to make it look less... crap? Or was that to stop it from falling down?
