Sent GTV an email last night & recieved this reply -

Thank you for your e-mail.

I am very sorry the Granada series 'The Last Train' will not be released

However, your comments have been forwarded to Granada Video for their

I remember seeing the first couple of episodes and being really freaked out, but I never saw the ending. Would someone willing to relate the ending (i.e. details of the final episode, or even the last few) to me e-mail me at Darren@kilfara.screaming.net? Thanks!

Cheers,
Darren

Damn, ITV are so stupid why don't they want to repeat it, it was a realy good program, I remember watching it in 98 or 99 I think it was, it was only on once a week. I remember when I used to miss it, I used to watch the repeat on ITV2 a few days later.

Funnily enough, I was reminded of The Last Train as well having just watched 28 Days Later. However (and apologies in advance for going slightly off-topic), I was also reminded of an ITV sitcom that was quite similar. All I can find on the net is the following from TV Cream:

NOT WITH A BANG (1990)
LWT

POST-APOCALYPTIC sitcom with JOSIE LAWRENCE based around the premise that JUDITH HANN drops a flask of green virus on the TOMORROW'S WORLD TV studio floor, thus annihilating the human race. Several poor comic actors survive (MIKE GRADY, STEPHEN REA, RONALD PICKUP). Quite realistic, really.

Can someone at least tell me what hapenned in the last episode? I saw the rest of the run when ITV2 re-ran it in 2001, but I missed the last one.

I cant remember much but basically they found the main place where all the people were staying, but i think practically everyone was dead and Johnathan the guy she was looking for was an extremly old man, and i *think* she put a cushion over his face to end his life or something. This was all very long ago so i cant remember it very well im sure someone will correct me.

Anyway i remember the ending being VERY eerie and not a happy/sad ending...just sorta felt spooky...

Thats right, the woman put a cushion over his head... at his request.

And I'm sure it ended where that girl was having her baby in the place, and the little girl Annita says "the people we've been running from, are the people we've been looking for" or it might have been the other way round "the people we've been looking for, are the people we've been running from"

Wouldn't it be great if Granada did a follow up series, but they wouldn't

The people they found were the childen of the people who went in The Ark (or whatever it was called). The base looked rather new though, no burn-in on the monitors, full power supply, no water leaking in through the roof, no sign of shock damage at all etc. No government bunker that's been seen is anywhere near as nice as that. Places such as TUNRSTILE were, in comparison, a right dump. (See 'The Secret State' by Peter Hennessy for a few pictures).

They collected the ID cards of all the people who were inside, and after the lead had euthanised the, by now, rather loopy Johnathan, their collection was complete and they had closure.

It was not that bad, A fair amount of effort went into it, though how you could test for water contamination with just a pH meter was quite a oversight.

All in all one of the best sci-fi efforts to some out of the UK for quite some time.

Yeah, i agree about what you said about the pH meter.

It would be interesting to read an account of all the episodes that somebody has wrote, certainly if the series is over with no future releases or repeats.

Anyone?

the last train

Hi i'm kylie a 14 year old and i can remember watching The Last Train on TV. I couldn't remember which year it was on but now i know. The Last Train is my favourte program of all time and if Granda was to bring it out on DVD or video i would buy it. The problem with it being on ITV2 is that i wouldn't be able to watch it because we still have only 5 channels.
I'm a member of a Yahoo group and people keep saying about petitions for things like "we wanna hear this song on the radio more" etc so i throught it would be a good idea if we could start one for Granda to bring The Last Train out on DVD, if you think its a good idea i will start one up as long as i'm old enough. please please please help me i loved that program so much. The address is www.PetitionOnline.com/
Thank you write back. Love From Kylie Jade Rose. xxx
