I can't imagine it had any effect on the Scouse girl, she seemed as stupid as dirt and lacking in self awareness.

It upsets me to see the way some teenagers are today. The laddie last week did learn from it all, which was nice to see.

I've only just started watching the latest one on iPlayer and this goth lad's proper family do come across as a smidge homophobic and snidey about his bisexuality. If they act like that then it's little wonder that he seeks solace in his gothy friends.

Oh dear I'm going to have problems with this given that it's Israel.

Haven't we had a gay Teenager on this show before?
Pretty sure they were upfront about it.
Not sure what the Holocaust has got to do with this, might have a point though.
Oh getting the point now.

Edit: The Scouse girl the other week, any redeeming features revealed by the end?

Just started watching this, Jacks' family seem like unsupporting bigots.

You can tell that the mother resents him and I couldn't imagine what sort of effect that environment must have on a teenager.

Watching the Israel episode on iPlayer right now, and feeling really nauseas about Jack's family. He's a bit stroppy but nothing like as bad as most of the others, they're acting like being a goth or being bisexual or being a bit feminine is as bad as being a drunken, mouthy, couldn't-care-less ****. I'm disliking his family a lot more than I am him. I hope he doesn't go all soppy and regretful at the end. His mother "I hope he conforms." Ugh. I'm so happy I have the parents I do.

So in summary, Jack's problem was really his parents?
I was a bit mystified, because he really wasn't as stroppy as I was expecting.
The last Gay teenager I can remember was in the first series and they went to America and he was totally upfront about it.
Then again the seemed to use it as a stick to beat his parents with even though they didn't behave in a homophobic way, they objected to his behaviour not his sexuality.
Did Jack actually front up about his sexuality to the family, because he didn't at the School.
As an aside, I saw very little input from the other children in the family.

Oh, have to say as usual well done to the BBC for selecting the parents, they defy my more tabloid black/white expectations everytime and it's not all relentless big stick.

Always amazes me the alchemy that seems to occur with the teens experiences of going on the show. I thought Gemma was so fun to watch in the last episode and so sweet at the end that she found the humility to go back and say sorry.

Brilliant show BBC.

" THE COMMUNITY " who care .. can you do the job, what you wear, what you believe is really non relevant!! I am A mum of a teenager.. self admitted if Laziness was in the Olympics he would win GOLD!! , yes he needs a kick up the arse , but not religion .. I have NEVER believed in any god I have not eaten meat in 23 years and I have no criminal record!!

yes I would like my teenage son to experience a different world.. (statistically they, well 99.9 % grow out of this behaviour anyway between ages 21-25) but why do they always try to force religion .. thank god I'm an atheist!!!!!
NO one would tell me how to dress.. what I wear.

I am sorry I wear shades indoors and if it offends you .. please ask me why i HAVE to wear them before you judge me!! and the "community" can Swivel , because if I have £1 for every comment I have had about my appearance I would be rolling in it!! I am me

I thought the mother in this episode was a bit cold to the girl when she was talking about past bullying and calling her feelings 'completely ridiculous' completely missed the tone...

I always want more at the end, like a '3 months on' section

From earlier in the thread.

Pretty sure it's done a couple of rotations over the year
There was a 3 months later program after the first series, 2 failures out of that series.
See end of old thread.
Not a lot of traffic on there, even less on this series.
Again the BBC has done well selecting the parents.

Watched the Lebanon episode last night. I love this show just because it lets me see how people in different parts of the world live (albeit they always feature a rather well-off family living in some kind of gated compound). I'd love the opportunity to live with a family in some of the places featured in this show.

Lebanon seems quite modern (the women at the wedding had western clothes on), but also a lovely mix of the east. The picnic looked so much fun!

Anyway, after I got over loving Lebanon and looking up flight prices to Beirut, I really enjoyed this episode. But does anyone else feel like they miss out huge parts of what actually happens? The transformations in the teens each week just seems so sudden. Do they have a show pyschologist also out there with them, giving them intensive therapy sessions?

And the house of hope. I thought the broken bikes were a poignant metaphor of the broken lives of some of those children.

I've said the same thing myself (probably in the first series thread) one that springs to mind was one of the Africa episodes, the name Vida pops up.
Anyway kids who've never cooked or cleaned by the end of the week were cleaning and cooking dinner for the family without a problem or apparently having constant guidance.

I'd guess there's probably a childcare or similar professional somewhere about in case things go a little too far or a more serious problem in the Teenagers past is revealed.
