I have the new EPG on my Samsung at last. Only 6 months late. But wait there is a bug in the new software!! Even though there is a setting to turn of the annoying spinning wheel on the front panel of the box when you watch a recording – You can’t. Have I missed something or is this a fault in the software?

So far as I remember the setting is in the Options - Sky+ Setup section. I have Front Panel Indicator set to off and it still goes round.

Can ayone help? Maybe some black tape stuck over the indicaor is the only cure.

I'm the same; it's no big deal but it would be good to be able to access the odd ITVHD programme.

I wonder how often they resend the update, anyone know?

On mine if you select 'standard' it goes off.

OKAY - I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!

New EPG downloaded itself last Thursday to my Samsung HD box. Since then I have all off the following problems:

1) Sky red button/text button does not work
2) Front light indicator cannot be turned off
3) When flicking between SD and HD channels, sometimes the HD channel disappears completely to be replaced my a green screen and no sound (can only get my HD channels back by switching the box off at the mains)

I have complained to Sky and been passed from pillar to post (from their customer services department to their technical department and finally to their interactive department who appear to just cut me off!!!!!).

I'm going to call Sky again tomorrow to complain but if anyone has any advice on how to work around all the above errors I would be most appreciative.

Go into PARENTAL in the main (top) menu, then OTHER in the middle menu. This gives you all the PIN options where you can turn off "PIN Protect Kept Programmes".

With the arrival of the new EPG, the slow motion function now works properly. It never did on the old EPG.

I've not had any problems with sluggishness, failed recordings, front panel indicator, green screens.

I am also one of the many who received the black envelope on Thursday, a week after getting the update!

I have this problem and learnt that the interactive service will only work when the TV set connected by the HDMI is switched on. That is to say, it will not work on a tv set that may be connected on the RF2 without the main TV set being switched on.

Had this problem, myself.
One thing I miss, with the new EPG, is the page up/down option, in the channel listings.

Since my EPG updated, I have had a problem when watching BBC4 through the Other Channels section. (I live in "Eire").
The problem is that the programme information box won't switch off. If I press backup it goes away for about 10 seconds, but then comes back on again. No matter how many times I have tried to switch it off it's always the same story. I've tried resetting the box, deleting BBC4 and adding it again, all to no avail. This only happens on BBC4. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? It makes it nearly impossible to watch subtitled programmes like Spiral!

Oops I have always used the red and green buttons for this function. I have to get out of the habit, now.

Things went from bad to worse yesterday with the new EPG.

The Sky HD remote control stopped working!!!!!!!!!!

The only way I could get it to work was to switch the box off at the mains and do a "software update"!

Don't get me wrong - I think the new EPG is a step in the right direction but you think Sky would have tested it before it was released! I mean - how can you justify releasing a product with soooooo many errors in it! Maybe it's a case for Trading Standards! LOL!!!

After a few days with the new EPG I am much happier with it than I was on the first day. The font size is a big problem for my wife as she can't read it from her viewing position.

I have actually switched the mini tv back on and do like being able to continue following the programme whilst viewing the EPG. perhaps I would have prefered the EPG to be slightly transparent like my BT Vision box rather than a Mini TV though.

Also like being sble to get info on later prorammes on the seach and scan banner. All my shows have recorded (so far!) so reliability hasn't been comprimised. 2 main issues are the fromt display bug, we both find this very annoying and have always had this turned off with Sky+ so seems strange they could sort out this bug. Also, when you ffw, the fact the time starts at the last point you ffw for a few seconds is a bit of a pain.

Overall though, quite happy.
