Listening to first LIVE broadcast. What an emotional start, hearing Abie Nathan. Some of the original Djs have been talking about their time on the original Peace Ship. Doug Wood & the whole team have done a great job bringing back VOP.

Just started listening. It says test tape 4 pre-launch in Winamp. Has it definitely started proper broadcasts?

Yes definitely - and I never realised how much I liked The Carpenters.

Not so watery wireless

Any idea why presenters such as Doug Wood are pretending to be on a ship when it's blindingly obvious that they aren't.

I doubt if Doug's been anywhere near a boat for quite some time, he works for Signal 2 in Stoke-on-Trent 6 days a week, and also does a show on Caroline on saturday evenings, very busy guy indeed..

Just gets a bit tedious after a while.

I agree its totally pointless and is making the station sound like a complete joke. Its plain stupid. If you listen to the whole project appears to be living in the past. This is ironic as several presenters were never ever on board the original station. This could have been a good opportunity to launch a modern day version of the old station and produce popular English language programming which is desperately needed in the state of Israel.

Strange, but I think it's only voicetracking radio because I hear Kevin Turner at the moment reading only liners and don't announce the tracks. I hear this also this afternoon with an other DJ.
Don't know where the studio's are but not from a ship what the claim.

Unfortunately running an operation like this will mean a lot of programmes will have to be voice tracked. But I am enjoying the music selection. I just wish they had the funds to get the vacant stereo slot on Digital 1. But I will have to be content with listening on WiFi at home, and 3G on my iPhone when out and about.

At least they are streaming at a decent 128K.

Theater of the mind anyone?

I always thought one of the nice things about radio was that you could pretend to be somewhere you weren't.

Imagination appears to be beyond many people.

To be fair 'Somewhere in the Mediterranean' is a bit of a VOP catch phrase.

It was always a bit of a joke anyway. They used to announce somewhere in the Mediterranean as if it was a big secret, when it was in plain site anchored 3 miles off Tel Aviv.

I wonder which program's are live and which are been voicetracked. At the moment again a voicetracked show with no track announcing, only some short 'liners':
'I been on the deck today, I saw the dolphins swimming', start next track..

Everything I've heard so far has been voicetracked.Geographically I never knew that Stoke on Trent was anywhere near the Mediterranean and has anyone heard the output from the 50KW rig they mention?

"From the virtual Peace ship somewhere in the mediteranean of your mind"

Is the correct way to id this station.
