Neighbours highest rating of the year apparently.

Good to see it back up after the summer lull. Hopefully it'll be making 2m come Winter.

EastEnders triumphed in the Thursday evening soap ratings battle yesterday evening, beating Coronation Street for the eighth week in a row.

The Walford soap's bonfire night episode, which saw Archie's plan to torch The Vic unfold, pulled in 8.11m (37.4%), while BBC Three's repeat showing added a further 884k (4.8%).

Since ITV's new Thursday drama lineup was launched four months ago, Coronation Street comfortably led in the ratings war for the first eight weeks, before the tables turned on September 17 when EastEnders gained the advantage and maintained the lead ever since.

Yesterday's edition of Corrie, during which Emily's niece Freda returned to Weatherfield, averaged 7.84m (33.5%). ITV2's repeat from 11pm added 327k (3.1%).

Laurel's fire horror during last night's Emmerdale's double bill put in 6.52m (32.3%) and 7.13m (31.9%) at 7pm and 8pm.

Am Surprised that Eastenders came out on top Seeing as Corrie has a Bigish Storyline and it was Bonfire night
But ratings do seem lower.
Nice rating for BBC3 too.

Emmerdale and corrie are close and not a bad rating for
the 8pm episode.

Im sure with Halloween and Bonfire night out the way
ratings will rise as we head to the run up to Christmas.

I would have expected more from all the soaps given its November time. Corrie especially so, 0.6m down from the equivalent episode last year is appalling.

Monday's figures are in line with what I would have expected.

EastEnders has beeten Corrie twice this week, I bet this time next year it'll be #1 soap, unless Emmerdale magically gets 9-10m again

Correct but the Emmerdale episode has a lower rating

Coronation Street led the soap ratings yesterday evening, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap's first two episodes of the week, in which Maria demanded answers from Roy and Joe was confronted by a debt collector, were seen by 9.31m (39.8%) and 9.58m (38.6%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

ITV2's repeats in the hour from midnight added 117k (2.5%) and 89k (2.7%).

Ronnie and Owen's kiss during EastEnders' outing drew 8.85m (36.7%) at 8pm. BBC Three's 10pm repeat was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, adding a further 693k (3.7%).

Emmerdale's offering, which saw Leyla confess all to David, put in 7.28m (33.7%) at 7pm.

Not a great night for the soaps, Coronation Street just scraping 9m when last week it was over 10m and EastEnders below 9m isn't great but the BBC3 repeat partly makes up for it. Emmerdale seems ok though.

Monday 10th November 2008

19.30- Coronation Street: 9.53m
20.00- EastEnders: 9.79m

Is this to try and prove some sort of point?

Because it doesn't alter the fact Corrie is down on its yearly average which really must be killing you given that you keep trying to find ways to change this.

Sure does.

CS is down aswell, this is the first time in what must be an age I've seen it down year on year to a lesser degree than EE although I'm actually the first to say its shit right now (yeah, you better believe it ) so I dont expect it to stay like that for much longer.

But one decent rating on par with last years does NOT make it all ok. Corrie is down far more than Emmerdale and EastEnders are for the overall year while EastEnders continue to see the shortest fall.

Next year, 2011 at the latest both EE and Corrie will have swapped places. All the evidence continues to point at it. EastEnders will soon be getting more than Corrie and excuses - old figures cannot hide. Nor put off what is going to happen if the trend of the past 4 years continues. Which all the evidence suggests will.

Its rather funny watching how nervous people are about it, so much so that they have to bring up old ratings on their own without a chart to compare all dates with, old ratings are just that.

I should think so aswell. If it cant kick it where it hurts now given the position of both shows, it never will.

Look at the rest of the year EastEnders was the only soap to have the smallest decline.

Ithink EastEnders got a knock from that Kym marsh Programe which pulled in 3+m at 8pm

Not bad ratings for anysoap last night

I think itv know this and that could be one of the reason's they are clashing Corrie with what could be one of the biggest Enders ratings of the year
But If EastEnders win or lose the clash im sure they will get the last laugh somewhere(Xmas or something)

It seems the only real strong night for Corrie now is a Monday as Enders seems to beat It alot more on the Thursday and Friday over nights.

Decent ratings for the soaps on monday. EastEnders and Coronation Street down on last week which is quite strange as Coronation Street have a big storyline on.

EastEnders is getting good ratings and it's quality is great even if this week is a quiet week.

I think it could start to overtake corrie a lot more.

Coronation Street was the most-watched soap yesterday evening, according to overnight figures.

The Weatherfield serial's extra episode of the week, during which John was released from prison, pulled in 8.94m (40.3%) at 7.30pm. ITV2's repeat at 11.45pm added a further 157k (2.7%).

Emmerdale's offering at 7pm drew 6.93m (33.6%).

THURSDAY 13TH NOVEMBER

18:30- Hollyoaks: 1.66m [inc. +1]
19:00- Emmerdale: n/a
19:30- EastEnders: 8.27m (37.3%)
20:00- Emmerdale: 7.5m (32.6%)
20:30- Coronation Street: 8.0m (33%)
22:00- EastEnders (BBC3): 720,000

EastEnders leads the way for the 9th week in a row. All three primetime soaps were up from last Thursday's figures.

From TV Programes Forum.

Another Good rating for EastEnders BBC3 reapt.
8pm Emmerdale looking good too.I think ITV should leave it in that slot and move Corrie to sundays
I must say watching Emmerdale was like watching the good old days.
Really enjoyed last nights episodes.

With the Clash on the 26th I wonder how it's going to go?

Emmerdale has the head start with the hour
but will the viewers stay with it right till 8pm
and turn the last half hour of EastEnders on or will people just leave ITV for corrie and catch Enders at 10?

It's going to be interesting.

If Emmerdale was only half hour id say EastEnders has it in the bag but the hour Emmerdale will prove a good lead in to corrie

Last year EastEnders was boosted in November by the Max is run over storyline. You only have to look at the Corrie ratings as well to prove this further. EastEnders beating Corrie on a Monday and by that sort of margin is very rare. I know it often beats it now in the overnight ratings but last year it was still a rare thing.

Friday 13th November
19:00- Emmerdale: 7.3m (33.8%)
19:30- Coronation Street: 9.0m (39.2%)
20:00- EastEnders: 8.2m (35.6%)
20:30- Coronation Street: 8.6m (35.8%)

Bigger than usual gap between Corrie and EE. EE's share is on the low-side, it should be around 37/38%.
