Not sure that result would have done ratings much good. Here were the ratings at the same stage last year:

Round 1
Sat 08/11/2008 - 22:35 - Highlights: 1.03m (7.2%)
Sun 09/11/2008 - 12:55 to 16:15 - Havant & Waterlooville vs Brentford: 1.21m (10.1%)
Sun 09/11/2008 - 22:45 - Highlights: 684,000 (6.2%)

I think that Paulton vs Norwich should rate higher than the live game last year, Norwich is a much more recognisable name than Brentford.

And for those wondering for Round 2:

Round 2
Sat 29/11/2008 - 23:00 - Highlights: 1.16m (11.2%)
Sun 30/11/2008 - 11:00 to 14:45 - Leeds vs Histon: 1.59m (15.8%)
Sun 30/11/2008 - 22:45 - Highlights: 869,000 (7%)

Just finished watching the Swansea v Cardiff match, and have to say that Hawthorne and Birtles had a great match, Gary deserves to cover some Premier League matches because it isn't just a one off.

Maybe. But don't forget that Havant & Waterlooville had taken the lead twice at Anfield the previous season, so the chances of a giant-killing (if Brentford can legitimately be called a 'giant'!) would have seemed much greater, and people would have been more interested because of H&W's recent exploits.

Whereas Paulton Rovers haven't hit the headlines and very few people would have given them a serious chance - many would have guessed correctly that Norwich would walk it and accordingly given it a miss.

Anyone know who commentated on Stourbridge v Walsall for the ITV highlights?

I hope we get Stourbridge's own Dan O'Hagan like the international viewers did.

I've just listened to the game on BBC WM and it sounded like an absolute thriller, I hope the excitement translates well into the highlights edit.

I wonder who will do the two Spanish games tonight, as Rob Palmer is at the Newcastle v Peterborough game and Kevin Keatings at Oxford v Yeovil.

Would of thought one of those two would of been on tonight especially at its both Barcelona & Real Madrid playing!!

The only other two commentators that have done a La Liga game, this & last season apart from the usuall three, are Gary Taphouse & Richard Kaufman.

THey both have done games this afternoon, so maybe it will be a new face on La Liga tonight!!

Keatings could easily get back in time to do the 2nd La Liga match.

Anyone else struggling to access the FA website at the moment? If anyone has got to the live feed I would appreciate if they could post me the direct link to the Oldham Leeds match.

Game of the day must be a given, but this was a decent end to end game. John Anderson was decent enough, perhaps a bit dodgy on the last goal though. Barry horne was awful however.
