Has Danyl even got that good a voice? - Page 3 - The X Factor

For raw talent and vocal sound Danyl has a good voice. I've not liked most of the songs he's been given. Simon must think a big note is necessary to impress.

His audition showed him to be more than capable, the songs I've heard that he wrote himself are more low key than his live songs so far.

Actually his idols are all soul artists such as James Brown, Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson etc. I would describe him as more soul than anything else. On all the other stuff I've heard him do he doesn't seem to go for the big notes - you're probably right in thinking Simon might be pushing for the money notes.

Your understanding of bending notes appears to be hitting just below or just above the note which actually means missing it. I have to laugh when people use the word "raw" about Danyl. He is a 27 year old with extensive experience in pop and other related genres and musical theatre, both stage and recording. Danyl is far from a raw talent, he is the finished article but this is as good as it gets with Danyl.

Yes, it is. I don't hear him running out of breath on the big notes, not being able to sing the big notes, or 'consistently' hitting the wrong notes. That is my opinion.

To begin with, I thought Danyl had an average voice. I thought that he could hold a tune but it was nothing special. However, as the weeks have gone on, I no longer even think that. He has shown at least six times that he struggles to even hold a tune. Occasionally, he has struggled to find it in the first place.

Just gobsmacked and to be honest this is what I have been saying all along stop it with the big note that first song is how I want him to sing, beautiful and I tell you if he wrote this he is talented in that quarter as well.

Yep, I agree 100% about Danyl's self-written songs and style of singing. He has an excellent voice and is hugely talented. Danyl doesn't always seem comfortable about having to hit the long, big notes. I wish he was allowed to sing in the style he likes on The X Factor. Fingers crossed it won't be a diva's song again this Saturday.

Agreed, I'd love for Simon to let Danyl allow more soul into his voice and more whimsy into his song choices.
