Once upon a time McCarver was an excellent analyst, but he seems old and crotchety these days.

Buck's father was an excellent announcer. Joe is too hip, too cool, too dull and too full of himself to call a good game. MLB.com features the calls of the various announcers after each Playoff/WS game. Buck's calls are always the most boring.

My first thought after seeing the ad was could it have been played out in error ?
Not seen one since though.

Oh to hark back to the days of Jack Buck and Hank Stramm, what a combination they were on the radio.
Joe Buck reminds me too much of Frasier's brother Niles from the sitcom.
As for McCarver, he still lives to some extent in the 70's thinking back to his MSG Network show that used to be on NASN.

I really like MLBi's choice Rick Sutcliffe as their analyst. As a fan of "pitching duels" rather than high scoring matches, I think it's good that they are using a former starting pitcher who can explain the tactics and thought process that goes into being the "man of the mound" and how coaches organise their pitching rotations, bring on relievers etc.

I'm also warming to Dave O'Brien, I must say I preferred it when the great Gary Thorne was MLBi's lead World Series announcer but Dave has done a top class job since then, especially this year.

After a good night's sleep tonight I'll be looking forward to the culmination of the Fall Classic!
Agreed, Thorne was the "man", but "OB" ain't bad at all.

CSN Philadelphia refuses to ever let a feed of their coverage go out on satellite (because then they'd have to let satellite TV in the US have it and Comcast won't stand for that).

Notice Baseball is listed on the EPG still for ESPNHD. I believe there will be showing live MLS at 1 am tonight. I am looking forward to Montreal- Boston Hockey game on ESPN America.

NBA looks great on ESPN enjoyed NBA Fastbreak last night. Shame though nearly all highlights in 16:9 but Comcast New England the home of the Celtics appear to be a 4:3 broadcaster. Can't wait for the first Celtics game to appear on ESPNHD.

Yep - I probably sold OB a bit short in my last message, he's proven himself to be a superb commentator since taking over and is a worthy successor to Thorne.

Dave and Rick have done a great job during the World Series, I really enjoyed what I managed to see (and hear) of the Fall Classic this year.

Well done to all involved at MLB International and ESPN America.

And I'm looking forward to the next time I have reason to tune into ESPN America...which will probably be around April of next year!

A topic cut from Around the Horn tonight (about Roy Williams of the Cowboys), how often does this happen on the ESPN America showing?

Dont know these days but gave up with ATH ages ago - stupid NFL and not allowing them to show NFL hi-lites!

Actually with no NFL gameday hardly any Total Access on Sky and ATH & PTI not allowed to show NFL clips, the NFL are really hurting themselves big time!

The NFL now has the worst coverage of all the US sports - incl College Football and Basketball!

NFL sort yourselves out..

ESPN America just froze on a picture of SportsNation, which they don't even show. Does that mean they're planning on showing it sometime soon?

They just don't seem to tag it properly. I'd say 80%+ of American sport on ESPN is now shown in HD.

If you like your American sport, ESPN HD is well worth it

Despite being on ESPN UK, the Nebraska/Oklahoma game has ESPN US's version of the bottom line on it.

That's because it's an "ESPN on ABC" game. They always have the ticker on the feed.

anyone know what's going on with PTI and ATH? Disappeared last night, and replaced by E:60 tonight. Still on in the states according to the schedules...
