And, as I said on t'thread, I wear hooped earrings sometimes, as well as dangly ones and studs. What does that mean? I did have my ears pierced twice, but the second set of holes closed up as I fell into the habit of never wearing anything in them. I would sometimes wear TWO sets of hoops, or one set of hoops and a set of studs.

Who knew wearing earrings could be such a minefield?
I never knew that you judged someone's 'virtue' from the earrings they wear When I think of some of the one's I used to wear when I was young

Having just watched tonights episode (thank you Champions League football!), I now have a feeling that Cain knows exactly what Charity is planning and he deliberately dropped his wallet out of his jacket to prove there was no money in there. Putting a photo of her and Noah was a good move though, his expression did not give much away though.

Sally is becoming unbearable. She is a very manipulative character, dripping her poison oh so gently in the village shop to Viv, probably the best person she could do it too. Moira to be fair, did not look impressed by what Sally was saying, and a nice touch to mention Bernice and the fetes and tug of war, Emmerdale showing yet again that it does not forget departed characters. She knows exactly what she is doing, the making of her choice for tea instead of Laurel's and the comment about the children being hungry, surely designed to make Laurel feel bad, but if the children were hungry, why not do what many people do and give them a snack after school? She really is trying to take Laurel's life and duties as vicar's wife away from her. The story is being developed so well in my opinion, I know Sally is basically a plot device and things are obviously being hurried on to allow Charlotte Bellamy to go on maternity leave, but somehow the rushed feel of the story, for me gives it a greater sense of urgency. The look on Sally's face when she was listening to Laurel and Ashley's conversation was excellent, the mask truly dropped for a moment there.

I'm a little confused about the bonfire references. Does it mean that the Bartons are holding the bonfire party as Moira was buying supplies in the village shop, but then she asks Marlon to be there to be her friend as she may feel lonely. If they were holding the party then I would imagine John and her family would be there and they would also invite friends of theirs as well, possibly introducing new characters. Or is the Woolpack holding the party and Moira was buying supplies as an employee of the Woolpack?

Nathan is pure evilness, I said last week he is like a cat with a mouse, letting Leyla go and then pulling her back into his clutches, what sort of relationship does he honestly think he can have with her even if he manages to splits them up and she does start to see him. I think there is a definite case to be made for abuse and bullying in the workplace, if Leyla wasn't so scared of what he would do, then she is normally a level headed girl and would say this to him. Those shoes really did cost a lot to her.

Doug normally comes over as being a bit of a stick in the mud, pompous character, but tonight I really thought he showed genuine concern for Leyla and when he said he regarded her as a daughter, I welled up a little. His gentleness and fatherly concern is exactly what she needs at the moment.

It was also nice to see Eric talking father to son to David, showing concern for him although I would have expected him to say to David that his business is important, as a businessman himself he would have, I imagine said to David that whereas he has got personal problems at the moment, his business is important and he must concentrate on that.

All in all another good episode, keeping some of the main storylines going and there certainly are going to be some fireworks tonight (sorry)

The Sally and the Leyla stories are the two most interesting things going on in Emmerdale at the moment. If Sally is a plot device for Charlotte Bellamy's maternity leave, then may we have many, many more such plot devices. The storyline is fantastic, and Sian Reeves is awesome. In the evilness scale, poor Nathan is an infant compared to the master that is Sally!

Nathan is very clearly indulging in sexual harassment in the workplace by now. But Leyla confessing to Doug is a start and with that, the winds are shifting against Nathan, finally. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up in a couple of months' time.

Ryan will not be involved in a gay storyline. If Nathan was gay, would any "Emmerdale hunk" even want him after all this Leyla stuff comes out? And isn't Cain too busy with his OTL and domestic drama to bother about watching others?

It was a very good scene. I'm glad Doug didn't judge Leyla or condemn her mistakes. It'll be interesting to see how he treats Nathan after finding out what a creep he is.

The 'jokes' about Angelica supposedly having the 666 birthmark were not funny in August, and they're certainly not funny now, three months later.

I must be lacking a sense of humour, then. I don't find 'jokes' about an infant being the devil just because of which character her mother is (let's just ignore the fact that she has a father, too) to be funny.

I wonder how long it'll be before I get accused of taking Emmerdale "too seriously."

Youre not lacking anything, youre just showing no understanding of other peoples types of humour, just mocking it. Like i said, different people, different forms of humour.

Oh I can relate. I was catatonic (almost) for a few days last year when I found out that Matt Healy was leaving.

Different people have different levels of emotional attachments to characters, nothing wrong with crying about your fave character leaving if youre that emotional. sometimes i wish I was lol

I didn't cry when Matthew died, but I was probably a lot more upset than I should have been.

I don't think the Angelica 'joke' is very funny either - it's too tenuous an allusion since the infant herself seems quiet and well behaved - the joke would have more point and punch if it were Nicola herself or Nathan who was suspected of bearing the mark of the beast.

It's the adherence to the quasi-canon of the soap which has been dreamed up by the posters who consider themselves, or who are perceived as 'important' which p*sses me off and discourages me from being a regular contributor to this forum in general and the Emmerdale threads in particular.

I fear, from the responses you've had, that the Angelica '666' joke has already entered the canon and will persist forever along with such old chestnuts as - Ashley is bone idle, Viv is more than a one-dimensional character, Val provides nothing but puerile comic relief, Eric murdered his wife Elizabeth, the Dingles are only capable of pantomime performances, anyone relatively young with two eyes, a nose and a mouth in a more or less 'normal' physiological arrangement is 'hot' !

You're not alone - have a nice day!

Awww! ((((HUG))))

It's not nice to hear your favourites are leaving. Some characters you like in a casual way, but there are ones you invest a little too much in at times so that you're gutted if they're written out/killed off.

I'd have rather Mark stayed than Faye or Natasha, to be honest.

Excellent way of putting it, WK! I don't feel so bad about all the moping I did last year now.

I sincerely hope that it does not persist. It wasn't funny when it was first made after she was born, and continually flogging an already dead horse just makes it all the more annoying.

Batley!

I cried during Jack's funeral episode. I think it was partly because it was so well done, and partly because we knew that the actor had died in real-life, too.

I was fine for most of the episode, but it was the bit at the end, where the CGI of Clive Hornby appeared next to the grave, smiling at Diane, with "Imagine" playing that set me off.
