Is there really any need for you to make an issue out of this?

Arthur (or anyone else), I apologise if I appeared rude when I made a slight addition to the details you kindly provided. That was not my intention at all, rather just to add a bit of extra info for the benefit of anyone who's interested.

Was Mr McKintosh the American voice I heard (and I don't mean the ring announcer)?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I think McIntosh's voice/accent sounds South London-ish but I'm sure it could be interpreted otherwise - unlike that of Woodhall and Bunce who have accents which clearly identify the areas they come from.

What was said voice doing? Ron was anchoring the coverage last night. I switched off after the judges scores came in, so maybe the American-sounding voice you heard could have been from a journalist they called upon afterwards, or was it the post fight interviewer?

I don't reckon the latter would be the case though, as I'm not sure if there was much US interest in the fight to be honest. The main TV broadcasters were Germany's ARD and Sky Box Office so it wouldn't be like most fights when you hear an American HBO/Showtime commentator conducting the interviews immediately afterwards.

To be honest, I don't really know. I only tuned in for the last few seconds of the fight.

Well if that's as much as you heard, then out of the four on air voices Five Live took to Germany, it was probably Ron.

I suppose you could say Ron's voice is similar to that of Sky NFL host Kevin Cadle, so if you are familiar with his work, would that seem about right?

There is a vocal similarity, thanks.

Horse racing doesn't get much of a mention on here - I know BBC Five Live cover the sport pretty extensively, as do a number of bookmakers' in-house radio stations.

But today (Friday 13th November) it's the turn of talkSPORT to get back into the saddle (sorry!) to provide live coverage of the sport of kings.

Hawksbee & Jacobs are broadcasting their afternoon show from Cheltenham Racecourse in order to cover the first day of The Open Race Meeting, which is scheduled to include certain commentaries on some of the bigger races.

Rupert Bell is the station's race commentator and roving reporter out on the course.

Paddy Power, whose firm is sponsoring tomorrow's Gold Cup race, was due to be the third man of the presenting team with Paul and Andy but he missed his flight to England this morning and so is linking up with the boys via phone from his Dublin base.

Live horse racing in this timeslot on talkSPORT has some history - it was a staple of The Afternoon Sportzone with Rob Wotton and then Richard Kaufman in the station's early days, and continued into H&J after they were switched to the 1-4pm slot in 2002 until, I think, a sponsorship deal was struck with Attheraces. This coincided with the end of live commentaries as their coverage was cut down to just a 1.30pm preview.

Also airing on Radio Sport New Zealand. More action in 30 seconds of this than 80 minutes of bilge at Twickenham today!

Well, BBC Radio Wales may have been an alternative commentary option for Sky/Virgin/Freesat etc viewers, but as a Freeview viewer it certainly wasn't available on there (or indeed was it trailed as an option by Gareth Lewis when he handed over to the various commentators prior to the first half). We got the normal BBC Two Wales TV feed and Fanscene as our two options.

Ian, do you know who was reporting on last night's game for talkSPORT/IRN (if indeed they even had a reporter there)? Could it have been Hamish Stuart (as Real Radio)? I know he was their man for Wales v New Zealand last weekend.

I'd also be interested to have confirmation on the talkSPORT/IRN men on today's Autumn Internationals, judging from the talkSPORT Media Player I think they may have been Russell Hargreaves (England v Argentina) and James Gibson (Scotland v Fiji) but can't be sure as they are not name checked (and I'm not that familiar with either of their voices).

I would check every now and then to see if talkSPORT would cross over to get an update from the game, but I don't think anyone was there. I was at the game, so it wouldn't have mattered to me
