Reverend & The Makers Haevyweight Champion Of The World...

...sounds like a hit to me. Just needs the exposure. Out 28/5/07.

(I'd better not mention the Arctic Monkeys connection, wouldn't want anyone to pre-judge it before a listen. NOTHING like them at all, btw.)

Loved "Reverend" Jon's work for a long time now.

Fantastic band - great tune.

No, he didn't, it's an 'urban myth'. He co-wrote Old Yellow Bricks on the new album and could be said to have given Helders and Turner their first gigs as musicians, to which we should all be eternally grateful to him for, though.

Sorry, but a dancier version of the Arctic Monkeys is my idea of hell . Also, even if it is somewhat lazy, how can you not make a comparison to the Monkeys when the singer sounds like Alex Turner's twin?

Now on Radio 1s A-List & #14 on iTunes. Not physically released until next Monday. BIG hit on its way. Sheffield - home of the hits.

It's songs like this, and that playlist, that remind me why I haven't listened to radio for about 3 years. It's all got a bit predictable imo....

Pleasantly surprised at the Capital playlist, it seems a little more varied and risk-taking than I'd expected.
Nice to see them giving the excellent Tiny Dancers some exposure.

I really love Tiny Dancers. I was a bit disappointed to see them only chart at number 33 with "Hannah We Know"
I just love the lyrics....

and its a brilliant video. Hoping to see it get in the top 10 next weekend.

This is in the unusual position of actually climbing the iTunes chart over a week after its physical release. Ooohhherrrr. I think it could go Top 10 next week, lol. The Rev/Jon is/always has been an opiniated bugger (warning: industrial language of the most industrial kind):

I too agree.

Tiny Dancers are a similarly excellent and talented band to Reverend And The Makers.

Both from Sheffield too.

The Hoosiers are regularly played on Capital also.

Mind you, the music controller at this station, Sheena Mason, knows her stuff - been in the game for a good while now. I would say she's the best music programmer in the game right now.

Well, this is an unusual single in that it has actually climbed from 12 last week to 8 this! Crikey. Mind you, have you heard some of the total sh*t in the top 10 today?? Calvin Harris...ewww, someone shoot the bugger, please.
