Grand Romatic Gesture...
For A Guy. Is such a thing possible?
Or not even a grand one, just a romantic one. All the typical romantic items are quite girly orientated; flowers, chocs, love song cds, jewelery, cuddly toys, generally red/pink and cute things etc.. (dont all shout at once that i'm strerotyping, i'm talking generally). So Valentines day or just-get-a-present-for-no-reason day was always difficult for me - i'd have to think of smg the boyf liked anyway, so nothing particularly romantic, usually practical or useful. Course there was alwasy the candles, lovely dinner option but thats not a present. We've broken up now but I miss him desperately and I think one day I might try and get him back - if I dont try i'll regret it forever. So sometimes i think at that time I would like to post him something. Something romantic, smg to make him smile, sounds cheesy - but smg love orientated, but I havent got a clue what that would be. Is it actually possible to get smg romantic for a guy? Last edited by tinker.bell : 04-06-2006 at 23:23. |

England World Cup Tickets or a KFC bucket (or both if you really want to pull out the stops). I would be like putty if a girl got them for me.

ok then. ahem. lol actually he does like a kfc. But i've never had one so i wont go down that road.
World cup - far too impossible. Forgot to mention he is a massive Arsenal fan (with a season ticket) so maybe smg to do with that... I did consider putting a msg in the programme, but he'd probably not see it. |

Also would quite like it to be smg he could keep. Sorry didnt mean for this to turn into advice thread. All advice very welcome, but is it the case then that romance is only really for girls? |

I think the most romantic thing is personal to him. Is there something that he really likes, that if he received it from you he would understand that you missed him?
These are the things that tug at the heart strings the most. Nothing beats knowing that someone understands what makes you tick. never mind the cliches. But if he has moved on? |

A girlfriend of mine once took me to a football match and at half time she stood up very slowly, put both hands to her lower back and emitted a grunt of discomfort. Turns out it was a Grand Rheumatic Gesture.

But those chliches - what are they? thats kinda what i was getting at? Are there romatic things for guys or is it the case they'd rather we didnt bother as it then means they have to reciprocate! like i said on a day like valentines i dont always like to get someone a practical/useful pressie, but in the end it would end up being a book or clothing oraftershave or cufflinks or something else he needed. hmmmm Not sure if i'm expressing myself quite right.... |

I took my OH to venice for the day for his birthday as a suprise last year and a few years ago I took him to Barbados for a week as a suprise - he thought that was romantic

Unfortunately the other person who lives with me finds romance in anything electrical or a blow job while watching England play football.

I think most men just don't care about romance, they find it a chore to provide it for us so I don't see how they can value it that highly.
I think romance is in the details anyway - a great novel that you can draw a personal parallel with for example, sent with a quick 'I miss you' scrawled in the inside cover would do it for me, or an emotive poem written inside a card, or a mixtape full of meaningful songs (not mushy love songs, but songs that told the progression of the relationship or something like that). I'd find all of that far more romantic than a teddy bear or chocolates or any other cheapo excuse for romance! |
