i think it's a brilliant new running joke in new who that he ends up being kissd by every companion in some way, usually not what it seems.

eg- sucking the time vortex out of rose
- being planted one by captain jack
- rose posessed by cassandra
- leaving a bioological trace on martha
- donna trying to shock him out of toxaemia
- erm...

so really they do need to find a way for bernard cribbins to kiss him too- maybe a fatherly one on the forehead as he dies in his arms!

This is getting annoying now.

I know this is new Doctor Who and he's now got sexuality, but does he have to snog every companion?

When he snogged Rose it was pretty special because of the whole love story thing. Then he snogged Martha and it was a bit 'MEH'. Then he snogged Astrid.

When we got Donna, I thought 'Finally. A companion he won't snog.' And what happened, a snog.

Come on. He's Doctor Who not James Bond.

Sorry for the rant.

Don't know about anyone else.....but I am really getting tired of this hetrosexual agenda...yes we get it RTD....the Doc likes Females!!!!!!!

On a serious note.....I expected it to tell you the truth.....especially since all the interviews by RTD, DT and MR while promoting POTD seemed to suggest a certain chemistry between the Doc and Lady Christina.....

But I agree with Craigpugh, it is a bit of an injoke.....especially that most of the snogs tend to have some kind of "excuse" to them.....I have only ever found one kiss out of place, and a bit wrong....and that was the Doctor kissing Astrid at the end of VOTD....while the rest were funny....I wouldn't include the JE kiss, as that wasn't really the Doc Rose was kissing

Anyway if the pictures are anything to go by.....the Doc doesn't seem too pleased if that is any consolation for anyone

I agree. It's boring, predictable and yawnsome now. At least he won't be snogging Bernard Cribbins, although he probably will.

Right so just ignoring the context of these so called snogs is the way to go is it?

I mean the three you mention were not actually sexual kisses for one thing, especially the one with Donna.

I have to say I find these kind of threads that read too much in to tiny little things more annoying than anything else...

This. It's a running joke that was never funny in the first place. Events should be dictated by the story, instead of writers thinking "how can we shoehorn a kiss into this episode?"

Oh the Donna one made complete sense....and it was hilarious IMO

Oh and the Martha one played a part in the story.....

Oh and can you blame Cassandra....after all those years being a skin on sticks!!!

That comment does make me wonder that maybe in real life a kiss has to happen for a reason too.....I always assumed that it is more special when it is spontaneous....Oh well what do I know

that was one of the best parts of series 4, soooooo funney, although I personally though the 'Mammy' bit was even funnier!

As far as I recall the only sexual kiss the doctor has had was in The Girl In The Fireplace, so SM fans, you can expect a lot more of that sort of thing now the man is in charge......

And lets not forget what River was trying to suggest about why she had handcuffs......now that is "ergh" to think about......

Oh please. The writing process for every one you mentioned so very obviously started with "right, let's get them to kiss...how do we do it?"

Everything is obvious to people in hindsight, my dear. Unless you can read their minds, I don't see how you can possibly say it is 'obvious, and quite frankly, I don't really give a sh*t if it was.

The real issue here is that some people are unable to move with the times.

Well maybe for you......but not for me...and even if it is.....its no different to writers wanting to add anything to any story....ie how to get the Doctor use the Sonic Screwdriver to save a life....

And anyway its not like every episode starts off with the Doc kissing someone.....just occassionaly....and the world doesn't implode if the Doctor gets a kiss....well I hope not

as Rose says, the world won't end if the doctor 'dances'.

Note: who wrote that episode again? Are we getting the theme?

The hell are you talking about? It's nothing to do with "the times" it's about lazy sensationalist writing.

I have to confess I hate that bloody thing more than any kissing. It was bad enough to start with, but when he started holding it out like a gun EVERY EPISODE. God, don't get me started.

Maybe the Moff wants to try and get away with all that in the RTD era....but when it comes to his....he is going back to the basics of the 60's when the Doctor, despite having a granddaughter.....be seen as a strict asexual.....people can hope....

But lets for argument sake say that RTD does force the kissis into the script....I don't know how much of it is to rile the "fans"....as he always hides it behind an excuse of some sort....
While Moff I remember him saying for the kiss in TGITF, that the kiss will probably piss off fans....but he doesn't care.....

So I guess we are in for a fun ride for series 5

Indeed we are. And some people are in for a shock when they find they aren't going to get quite what they expect from the Moff era....myself, I look forward to it enourmesly, though he has very big shoes to fill!

Something that probably takes 1 minute the longest of an entire episode.....not that I have been timing them.....so its probably shorter....and then they move on....really???? Lazy????

As for describing the Sonic as a gun....well I think you may hurt the Doctor's feelings if he hears that.....as he doesn't do guns

I can't see what the problem is. Doctor Who is now a modern day character and the program has to move with the times. I think each kiss the Doctor has had has been relevant to the story and if one or two (Lady de Pompador, Astrid) were spontaneous, so blooming what? Good luck to him! One of the best kisses I have ever had was a completely spontaneous one by a very pretty friend of mine. Not just a peck on the lips, but a full blown snog

There's a few people in the world who go around moaning and complaining who could do with a good snog, spontaneous or otherwise

he hasn't snogged me.................

only in my dreams *sigh*

I like the Doctor being an "emotional being" - if he wasn't he'd be a cyberman!!!

I think there's a paragraph in his contract stating that he must snog every companion lol! Or maybe the companions have a must snog the Doctor clause... I know I'd want one of them if it was me!
