Christine Bleakley top choice for This Morning

Good decision. She has an endearing quality and can be serious and funny when the occassion demands.
Shouty Sykes seems cold and calculating, Fearne Cotton thinks she is hip with the teenagers and Myleene Klass turns up on every programme including the adverts.

Scary moment was when Anthea Turner threw her hat into the ring saying she would accept the job if offered.

Nooooooooooo, Christine is the best choice.

Is Christine actually getting the job then? Im relieved. I can't abide Melanie Sykes or Fiona Phillips.

She is top choice for the job so I suppose if she works well with Phil she may be offered it.

Oh. You made it sound like she had been offered the job in your original post.

Like me, quite fancy working 4 days a week, couple of hours a day with a weekly wage is probably more than what i get in year.

I think she is the best possible person for the job. I loathe all the others who have been touted. Melanie Sykes, Fiona Phillps (we have only just got rid of her), Kate Garraway, Mylene Klass.

Some interesting stuff here:

Quote:
But the BBC aren’t going to let Christine go without a fight. The source added: “Their argument is why would she go and do a daytime show when she is already on primetime BBC1?”

One reason could be the salary. Christine earns £100,000 a year while Fern was on £700,000.

ITV could double her salary and still make a huge saving.
Money aside, it's possible The One Show is a higher profile or higher ratings show.

I really like christine, I think she is great on the one show. Can I ask why does the producers want her so much it she is much younger, only 29 years old. I think Lorraine Kelly or Ruth Langsford should be given a chance or maybe the producers don't want them because they are over 40 which I think is a bit unfair it seems to that women presnters over 40 are being sidelined for much younger women.

I can imagine a lot of people will give up on This Morning if Christine with her irritating laughing all the time even when there is nothing to laugh about gets the job, plus her accent can also get on ones nerves. I can`t understand why they can`t give Ruth the job and have done with it

As they've been using Mrs Holmes as the official stand-in for years I guess she'd feel it necessary to quit if they appointed someone else. But if she became permanent there is the dreadful prospect of The Pieman shoving his way in - watch out Philip
