Whats going on at hummy.org.uk ?

I can't seem to get my status upgraded to 'can post' after registering. Also the navigation seems broken. Anyone know?

Navigation OK for me.

I had the same issue at registration, never received the confirmation link email, tried the "contact us" many times but never got a reply.

In the end, Barry got it fixed for me by contacting one of the mods himself directly. (Thx to Graham, who helped too).

Rgds.

I have the same problem, registered about a week ago to download the latest HummyReadFiles, but I'm not allowed.

I never received a confirmation email either.

Hmmm, seems like 'not just me then'.

Maybe if a member there could let 'de management' know that there's a problem that would be good.

I`ve tried registering on Hummy and received no E Mail registration, and that`s despite trying with two different E Mail addresses. I`ve also heard nothing form Hummy after sending about four E Mails via their "Contact Us".
As an experiment I tried asking for a reminder of my password, and I didn`t get that either, on either E Mail address.
I`ve never had problems like that on any other Forum so I reckon they`re must be doing something wrong !
I wonder how many others have tried joining, then just given up ?

Barry normally monitors these threads.

What username did you sign up with?

It's to do with the email headers which contain something that most ISPs regard as Spam, and get rejected at their servers, don't even make it through to your Junk Mail..

Rgds.

The thing is, since no other Forum I`ve used has had this problem (as far as I`m aware), shouldn`t Hummy change their system ? Or is that too simple !

Barry said you PM'd him, so should be OK to sign in on your Justin Aerial name.

You`ll probably get one of the Hummy administraters sorting it for you now.

hummy.org.uk R.I.P?

The site has been offline all day today. They were recently emailing registraints to solicit contributions to help defray running costs. Have they had to throw in the towel?

How bizarre. I've gotten "web page not available" for the Hummy site all day while internet access to everything else has been absolutely normal. Guess there's something weird going on at my end or with my isp.

I haven't been able to access it either. I assume it must be a DNS problem. This what I am seeing:

Nameserver trace for www.hummy.org.uk:
Looking for who is responsible for root zone and followed g.root-servers.net.
Looking for who is responsible for uk and followed ns6.nic.uk.
Looking for who is responsible for hummy.org.uk and followed ns3.dynahost.co.uk.

Nameservers for www.hummy.org.uk:
ns4.dynahost.co.uk returned (SERVFAIL)
ns3.dynahost.co.uk returned (SERVFAIL)

Very Strange this, I notice that my posting is the last posting in the forum was mine made yesterday. I have just logged on and edited the post without any problems. Also logged on yesterday without any problems.

Pinging www.hummy.org.uk from a cmd prompt gives 77.74.196.104

Looking up the dns info for dynahost.co.uk in the whois database gives:

Quote:
Registration status:
Renewal required.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***
You may be able to see hummy.org.uk until the dns data expires from the caches.

Actually it seems to be registered to an individual, which seems odd . I would have expected a dns hosting company.

Got this DNS error yesterday from work but was able to log in from a laptop at home. I don't know if that is because the IP maybe cached on some servers of if it's just from the last time Mike had problems with the hosting company and I edited the hosts file. Graham's was the only new post.

BTW graham can you double check that IP for hummy.org.uk as it just gives an apache & cpanel page for me. It should allow access to the hummy site if correct and adding it to your hosts file would allow continued access until the problems are sorted.

Edit: Disregard that Graham It is the correct IP according to whois

Fenderbender and Barry have been trying to get in touch with Mike but at present are unable to reach him.
