Naughty Cineworld!!!!!

There was a sign up yesterday saying all unlimited customers will face a 1.50 surcharge on 3D films.

And they have just put the unlimited price up as well

Surely they can only impose the £1.50 on new unlimited customers?

And this is why I scrapped my card as for the money you paid you started losing priviledges such as advanced bookings, etc. Its seriously not worth it anymore.

Even though you have to pay £1.50 extra for 3D films it still beats paying full price then having to pay £1.50 on top of that!
Can you bring along your 3D glasses from previous 3D film and save having to pay the extra £1.50?

Thanks to the OP. Was thinking of seeing the preview of Coraline at my local cinema.

I'll take along my old 3D glasses now.
(I have 3 pairs so far! )

The T&Cs of the card actually say that 3D films count as special events and are not included in the deal! So you are lucky that you only have to pay £1.50 to see them and not the whole cost.

I am pretty sure that you have to pay the £1.50 extra even if you bring your own 3D glasses.
They are starting to get worse i must agree, not being able to pre book is a stupid rule. Tried to get 2 tickets for Wolverine last night on tuesday night but was still turned down even though it was within 24 hours. We also had one, just one, 15% off food and drink voucher through the post, saving about 50p on what we usually get.
Got a baby on the way in a couple of months anyway so me and the wife will be cancelling.

WARNING!!!

Taking your old 3D glasses will not allow you to get off without paying the extra cost of a 3D screening. The cost is for the upgrade to the projection equipment (IIRC costs around £300,000) not for the glasses, which cost pennies.

I got told about this via the weekly unlimited email. However when I mentioned it to a cashier in the cinema he said that they were told we weren't getting told about the new charges and the cashiers would have to take the brunt of all the complaints.

I frankly think it stinks that we now have to pay an extra £1.50 a month and now also £1.50 extra per 3D film. I wouldn't mind but there are a lot of 3D films due out this year and can only guess that is why they have started to charge us extra.

whats the change in pre book rule, where a film is big i go down at opening time to get my ticket so dotn run the risk of not getting in esp on childrens school holidays as to get the kids there is a effort and not to get in would be disgraceful/

also orange wednesdays is a total night mare they are queuing out the door every week. it almost loks like a film premiere

Don't know where you're buying your projection equipment from but it's more like £60,000 for a complete cinema-grade digital system.

But anyway it's irrelevant as the £1.50 is a fee that Real-D apply to every ticket as part of the licence to use their 3D technology.

No it just wasn't enforced before. The film companies are now refusing to pay Real-D so the public has to instead.

What a swizz. Oh well, I've got into quite a few 3D films on my unlimited card previously,so will just have to pay and grin and bear it.

I guess you have to ask yourself if it's worth you having an unlimited card. I don't mind paying the extra £1.50 as there isn't many 3d films that I would watch anyway. Not into animated films and the only 3d one I have seen so far is My bloody valentine. I do think it's a cheek in them asking you to pay the £1.50, but if you use your card a lot your still quids in anyway. I use my card on average 8 times a month. So it's well worth me having it. If I only went 3 or 4 times a month then maybe I would rethink it.

I don't have a unlimited card, but read this thread out of interest. Have you guys thought about posting over at Martin Lewis's www.moneysavingexpert.com there might be others over there who are complaining about this and if there are enough people kicking up a fuss Martin might look into this.

I used my card last sunday for a 3D film and wasn't charged any extra. My friend who works there says if you keep the glasses and re use them you wont be charged.
