Night at the Museum... On again...?

I know that the digital channels tend to show certain films several times over a short period, but are Channel Four REALLY showing Night at the Museum AGAIN next Sunday...?

ITV1 did the same thing once with Ice Age, screening the film two Saturdays in a row.

This is very unsual for a terrestrial channel to do this. Apart from when ITV1 repeated Ice Age twice in the same month a couple of years ago, these are the only 2 occasions I've know this to happen. Maybe Channel 4 have a deal or it has something to do with their Film 4 channel having rights to show Night at the Museum so many times in a year or something like that.
Still odd for a terrestrial channel though

Possibly a deal the film company have struck with Channel 4to publicise the sequal which is out now? Just a thought. Whatever the reason it is pretty poor stuff from 4.

It's likely to be due to the second one being out at the cinema. Channels have done that alot lately put the previous film on. It's only a 2006 and in high definition so it was likely to be a first showing on C4.

It's not poor by C4 as many people will want to see the first one. It's a wise move and will draw viewers.

Didn't seen this so mentioned it over in the Movies forum.

It is also listed the following week, so would be 3 times.

Where do you see it listed for a third week?

According to Heat magazine the film was 'pulled at the last minute last week' hence its appearance again - tho it wasn't pulled so don't know if its meant to be on or not...

It is on at different times and the sequel is a big film. So i'm sure there are plenty of people wanting to see it before they go to the cinema

Ok the channel4 have just shown the ad and reading the OP I understand it.

Very strange for a terristrial station to repeat a film so soon, an looking at the listings there is no big shows on other stations to compete with.

If you want a laugh, download the Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo Film Review podcast which has a review of Night At The Museum 2 and interview with Steve Coogan. Mayo and Kermode argue in front of Steve on Kermode divering at how bad the movie is.

Didn't Five do that with Saving Private Ryan as well?

Is that a reason to show it twice in about 8 days though ?

I'm not sure about Saving Private Ryan, but Five often repeat the same films every 5-6 months or so

Was Saving Private Ryan not split in two for FIVE's broadcast? Half on Saturday night, half on Sunday night?

When posting yesterday, RadioTimes online showed it. But it now shows as Bremmer & Bird instead.

Perhaps they was using a old template whilst awaiting details.

No, it was shown in full on a Tuesday and then repeated the following Sunday.

Dances With Wolves, when that premiered in 1994 on ITV, was shown in two parts, half on Sunday and half on Monday. And going back further still, Gone With The Wind was first shown on BBC1 at Christmas 1981 with the first half on Boxing Day and the second half the following day.

I don't know the reason for it being shown again but I'm glad it is. I forgot all about it last week and went out with the weather being nice and Bank Holiday too.

At least Five varied the day for SPR, but same day and not much different a time for this film? C4 are so lazy!

Maybe people thought it couldn't possibly be as bad as it was the first time around

That's Heat, like us, unsure why it's down to be on again and so simply assuming it must have been rescheduled, having written the TV guide before last Sunday.

Digiguide still lists it at 8.05pm on Sunday, following a 5min "intro", which I presume is the same sequel promo fluff we've been getting in the trailer.
