Dragon Age: Origins

Anyone looking forward to this game?

It's a fantasy RPG game from BioWare, i heard about it only recently and after reading up on it, it's definitely peeked my interest

Basically, when you start the game you pick a race, dwarf etc. but if you pick Dwarf Royalty, the game will start with you in a palace and will evolve from there, same as if you picked a normal person, the story would start with you living a normal life

Like with almost all BioWare games you get choices, and they can decide whether you're good or evil.......but this time your actions also change the world around you, like replacing a world leader and changing a nation's place in the world and such

Sounds interesting imo!

Anyway, comes out in October on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360

Has anyone else heard anything more about it? I'd just like to know more really

I'm looking forward to this game, although your post already covered pretty much everything I know about it. There's some videos of it on YouTube.

This looks cracking, can't wait!

My mate won a Dragon Age t-shirt from some competition on Bioware's twitter, it's pretty neat looking!

I look forward to anything that BioWare does, simply because it is guaranteed to kick @ss, and they never disappoint.

Dragon Age looks A1.

Bioware haven't made a good game since KOTOR 1, and I definitely include Jade Empire and Mass Effect in their below par games list. Dragon Age looks like it'll be generic drivel, with the usual stereotyped story. The Witcher was the last decent RPG I played, and even though it was FAR from perfect at least it had an interesting story.

I always thought Dragon Age would just be vapourware so I basically ignored it, but now that's it's approaching release, I'm still not sure what to think of it. My main, overriding concern is the Console effect. It won't be for the best...

I can't help but wonder if calling it the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate is just asking for trouble, especially from this unashamed BG2 Fanboy!

Bioware are certainly not the 'dogs danglies' that some claim them to be, but it could be worse... They could be churning out another faceless FPS and then no one would be making these sort of games.

I think them saying that is going to come back to hurt them tbh.

Also it seems they are going for teenagers with all this sex scene crap.

This game looks rather fun. The idea of the straight sex scenes is off putting. I would like the choice of sexuality in games rather than assume everyone is heterosexual.

Pre-ordered mine, it comes with a toolset like NWN so even if it's a bit shite mods will make up for it.

I've just watched the "Sacred Ashes" cinematic trailer on the Dragon Age site. Very good it is too, and it's nice to see some blood for once. I hope the actual game is this, shall we say, bloody.

I'm still considering whether to get the expensive deluxe version... Perhaps messing around with the soon to be released "character creation program" will help.

I've been playing with the character creator and it's quite good, there are plenty of options and unlike Oblivion it's possible to make a character that doesn't look like some deformed mutant.

From the gameplay I have seen some thoughs.

1. Much more Baulders Gate than KOTOR or Mass Effect. i.e. pretty hardcore RPG.

2. Keyboard users on PC will be at a big advatage with all those hotkeys/shortcuts they are trying to jam on the controller

3. Looks kinda hard.

Indeed, I wouldn't fancy trying to play this with a controller. You can't zoom the camera out on consoles either which may be a bit of a pain.

As with every other game coming out in the next few months (apart from MW2) I'll be getting this game when it's cheaper.

Thought this was a pretty good gameplay video, shows some quite cool stuff with spell effects. http://www.tvkon.com/clip-2016.html

I'm a bit gutted about the fact that the European PS3 release date is still 'late November' but the US get it next week

The PC version was supposed to be released in March but they held it back for the consoles.
