N97: how to answer a call with the phone locked.

I wrote this for the vodafone forum. again i thought it might be useful here.

i'm sure many of you will know how to do this, bt it's not completely obvious so i thought it would do no harm to mention it.

with the screen locked when you receive a call you get this screen.

http://nigelcoldwell.co.uk/test/Scr000004.png

what this is telling you is that if you swipe your finger right you'll answer the call, and if you swipe it left you will unlock the screen and be presented with further options such as reject, reject with sms etc.

was that too obvious or not?

it's not the best one actually, but it's currently the only one that works on the n97. it can't save to png like the one i had on my 95

you swipe one way or the other. i don't think it has to be on the bar. just anywhere. left to answer OR right to bring up a menu

i guess i could post that screen too.

i've posted this on a couple of forums and it seems nobody knew this. i have also missed a call.

@BT@home - you can just unlock the phone, which i guess is what most people do.

Doesn't do landscape grabs though ... still waiting to someone that has got that working correctly.

I have a N97 so understand that. Just found it funny that Steve had only just realised this.

BTW: What I find very strange is that enabling anykey answer does not enable the green/red buttons. So if you enable that feature then you can answer a call with ANY key (which is nice) but NOT using the Green/Red keys !!! Hopefully a firmware fix for that one will be issued.

I'm still shocked that some people didn't know how to answer the call with the screen lock active and that there had to be a tutorial written

I don't think it's obvious at all.

And i think when you ask things that are obvious to me i have the good grace not to point it out.
