I've always had a bit of a thing for cute red heads.

Love her quirky outfit.

His on the other hand..

Awful.

I'm sure it'll grow on me, I was disappointed with Ecclestone's outfit at first and that did.
I never thought Eccleston suited the role and it all seemed a waste of time given that he announced he was leaving after the first ep was broadcast (and that was pretty dire anyway - shop dummies??)

Karen Gillan - yes, she is hot, and the new outfit for Matt Smith just looks weird.

BTW, I've included the Breakfast interview link here again because a thread like this will get swamped with posts and when I added the link before, it was at the bottom of another page anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnBf1W9UeIs

The shop dummies were Autons a classic series enemy, it was a good choice of first enemy since a lot of the initial viewership would have been origional fans. I actually liked that episode so I don't agree there.

About to watch the vid now, thanks.

Yeah, DT is a hard enough act to follow but he looked pretty damn cool too. This new look just....odd.

who is to say this will be how he dresses anyway, it could be one or two episodes before he settles into his image, tennant looked dreadful in ecclestons jacket, and eventually started dressing as jamie oliver

It looks Goth meets Professor to me.

I am sure those skin tight trousers will grab the attention of the girls pretty soon..........

What a strange photo. The revealing of a new doctor's costume is a huge event in fandom - it just seems a bit like an afterthought. Is this the first time a costume has been revealed in such an off-hand manner?

It doesn't look quirky or cute or cool. It looks downright boring. They should have let Matt dress himself - at least he has some flair. And I absolutely detest that totally ridiculous and downright irritating bowtie.

I disagree.

I thought it suited DT well, but his costume was really just a suit with converse.

This costume is a bit more quirky ... it's not instantly "wow", but I think it'll go very well with the Doctor that Smith and Moffat are creating.

he is making the 5th, 6th and 7th doctors look very cool

it's like the Doctor is actually dressed like a doctor GP a bit too literal??

I don't really like it. Makes him look too much like an old man. If they want an old doctor, just cast someone old for pity's sake!

Karen, on the other hand, looks absolutely gorgeous and definitely the finest of the companions to date. Pity the name undermines the image, though.

Karen is lovely, but Billie defines "truly yummy" for me ... (though I have to say Billie the actress is hotter than Rose the character ... )

Very good, very quirky, i guess we'll find out how well it works on 3rd April next year!

Hmmmmm, well it's a slightly 'stuffier' look than I was hoping for...I had expected a bit more of a modern twist.

I actually quite liked the initial publicity shots where Matt was dressed in a black rollneck sweater with a black sports jacket, so this switch to a 'university professor' look will take a bit of adjusting to. I would have gone for open-buttoned, rather than a bow-tie, but we'll see how it pans out...

At least, they've gone for 'clothes', rather than an obvious 'costume'.

Regards,

Cypher

Oh Dear.
Not very impressed with the new look. Someone gave a good shout when they said "I hope the bowtie spins when he gets excited".

Despite them probably trying to go for an "Old man in young body" look it is actually very contemporary http://men.style.com/fashion/collect...EN/runwayshows

I am confused why the photo seems to be of an "off-set" moment compared to the fanfare among previous announcements (e.g. Tennant's outfit, Matt Smith's arrival etc.).

I'm looking forward to the scene when the companion (now revealed as Amy Pond) fishes the 10th Doctor's old converse out of the TARDIS bin!

I hate Matt Smith costume. Instead of Emo Doctor we are getting the Little Lord Fauntleroy Doctor.

Because Tennant's costume was ultra-cool and suited his character very well. To go from that to a bloody bowtie and tweed outfit is utter crap IMHO.

They are kidding with that picture, right?

That CAN NOT be his outfit! It's utterly awful, devoid of character and makes him look ridiculous!

I'd be surprised if that wasn't some outfit he was wearing for the first episode. If it's not I'll be sorely disappointed...

My thoughts as well.

It's just a case of getting used to something new.

Er, we don't know the type of "character" that Matt Smith will play, apart from his name.

I expected a long black leather coat to go with his goth look.

Given that you have no idea what Smith's version of the character is like (though "mad professor" / "old man in young body" seems likely) you have no idea whether it suits him or not.

It's a hell of a lot more Doctor-ish than anything we've had since the series returned. Hopefully it might even scare some squeeng fangirls away and they can go back to watching 'Supernatural' and their 'Twilight' DVDs...

Have you ever seen the series pre-2005?
