New Series of Midsomer Murders returns. The first Murder happens in a wood by a Golf Course. Rupert Vansittart who plays Lord Ashfordly in Heatbeat makes a brief apperance before he's blundered to death by a Golf Club.

Not for viewers in Scotland - alas. STV have decided to show a years-old repeat of Foyles War.

STV is to television what RBS is to banking...

I noticed that with most of the cast, they were repeat performers from other MMs, ie the guy who was killed was in one just last week, and also the mother of the boys was in one as well, along with the golf players, I wish they would introduce some new actors.

I think it's a little 'in joke' thing they've started to develop in the past two or three years, ever since they brought back Elizabeth Spriggs as a different character following her appearance in the first ever MM.

Anyone else finding that watching this episode is like pulling teeth...it's just a bit tedious and I think I'm going to do the unthinkable and switch over part way through!

Bit boring to be honest. This programme annoys me sometimes because it sometimes feels like a 1 hour programme that has been stretched out to fit a 2 hour slot. The end result is a lot of filler. But that's just my view.

It was watchable, but it's definitely lost something ....I can't quite put my finger on what's gone wrong with this programme - maybe they're working on a more limited budget?..The acting seems very poor in the more recent episodes.

lol I wanted a blood-bath. We only had two murders, which was a tad under-whelming.

Exactly both companies are full of merchant bankers with no bloody clue to keeping the viewer/customer happy.

Midsomer is a county.

According to IMDB this episode was shown on 19th March - but that was a Thursday.

Is it definitely new?

edit: seems it was shown in Sweden first.

Well done ITV.

There's no way that the evidence he had could have possibly led to him finding the killer. I agree that the last scene where they cought him battering that bloke with his golf club was a dead giveaway but Barnaby had already nailed it prior to that happening.

When he ran through the series of events and talked about someone throwing the ball out of the bushes and hitting him on the head and him going in after him, I just thought to myself, "Come off it! There's NO WAY he could have possibly deduced that. Even the mortician couldn't work out what the bruise was from. Made me think that it was just a bit too far fetched for my liking. And I agree, I thought it was dragged out and got a bit boring. I actually fell asleep before the end but luckily I had it recorded so I didn't miss anything.

Depends how big the county is I guess.

Rather like Oxforshire or Glasgow (Morse and Taggart)

I believe the worse place to live is in 'Testate'. Alot of people have died Intestate.

I've just found this curious little link which shows where each episode was set complete with photos.

http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionC...tionsindex.htm

Looks like the majority or them were set in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. I want to live there now!

I come across them filming now and again for Midsomer, not spotted any actors though you cant get near because they close the road down (obviously) but i do recognise some village greens and pubs where they film sometimes, my local bookshop for one and my sister's boyfriend reckons his van is even featured in an episode

I agree with the people who say there was a lack of investigation. I have found this with MSM for a few series now. The audience have all the clues, then suddenly Barnaby runs through them and concludes who the killer is. Also I find the reveal of the killer comes quite early on in the final 30mins and then there is no final twist.

What happened to the days when they would suspect someone, have the audience convinced it is that person, only to throw in one more twist?

Yes, most were filmed in Oxfordshire/Bucks - one episode even featured the South Oxfordshire mobile library. They have also referred to Oxford in some episodes, so Midsomer is clearly near the English murder capital.
