2010 Classic DVD releases.

The first 2010 release is likely to be....

The Kings Demons and Planet of Fire

(as a trailer went through the bbfc: http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classi...0?OpenDocument )

Anyone would think The Master is coming back or something.

A theory...

I'm going to take a punt and say it might be a Kamelion boxset ('it's' first and last stories, well, 'it's' only stories really!); they did the New Beginnings boxset when the Master was coming back last time...maybe they'll bring Kamelion back - and maybe it'll work?! Just a guess!

Cheers,

Thanks for that.

Watched Kings Demons for the first time in ages, recently. It really is something and nothing, with a very rushed ending.

Love Planet of Fire, though, even though it's clear that Lanzarote and Sarn are the same place.

Kamelion was a great idea. Such a shame he never really came off properly and they never knew what to do with him. A great example of DW's brilliant ideas lying just outside the reach of what is practical and deliverable.

Thanks for the info - I quite liked King's Demons: an amusing romp of a story, but not one to be taken too seriously.

With the exception of Frontios and the Mara stories, this must pretty much wrap up all PD's stories.

Don't forget lovely little The Awakening.

So many neat little gems tucked away in the Fifth Doctor's time.

The producers at the time missed a great chance in having Polly James as a companion.

apparently slated for a 2010 release with new CGI effects is the Pertwee story Invasion of the Dinosaurs.

That has been rumoured to be happening before and never happened, much to my disappointment. I really hope it does happen this time!

But surely they could not do the Dinosaur new effects on the Cheap as it just would not be worth changing it otherwise.

I hope they do complete Doctor boxsets at some stage, that's what I'm waiting for. Of course, sadly the first two Doctors' tenures will NEVER be totally complete.

perhaps they have secured more money to do it..I don't know. I just heard the rumour via someone who is normally quite reliable with their information.

Leave those Dinosaurs alone!

I love that story, and it wouldn't be the same with swanky effects. Slathering CGI over everything isn't necessarily a step forward.

What would be the harm in having both original and new cgi version made available?, it would be fun to see how it could look.

As long as the original is preserved then what’s the problem?

Normally Doctor Who DVD’s has an option to watch both the original and new cgi version. As long as the CGI is not altering the story I don’t see the problem, if nothing else it enhances the viewing of story. Lets face it, if they could of done it back then they would have done it.

I hope your source is correct Black Guardian as I will definitely buy it if its released.

They've never offered CGI as anything other than an extra.

(The problem is the CGI they can afford would be just as cheap in 2010 terms as glove puppets were in 1970's terms.)

The other strong possibillity for 2010 is "The Mind Of Evil" as they have apparently been able to do the colour retrival process on it.

They did consider making Will Chandler from The Awakening a regular companion.

It's not a problem if it's optional. The Restoration Team have become more meddlesome in recent times though. I've got the video version of Invasion of the Dinosaurs and it's not too bad actually. The dinosaurs are rubbish but they are kept to a minimum. Like most Doctor Who from the period, it's much more about the script and the actors.

afraid the only whisper I heard was the new CGI but as Stcoop mentioned above with the new colourisation process I am sure it could be achieved if the budget was available.

I don't mind it in black and white, I just wondered whether they had given up hope of restoring it to colour before releasing it on DVD. I feel the same way about The Mind of Evil and The Ambassadors of Death - it doesn't bother me if they came out in black and white but I get the feeling some people would feel shortchanged if they weren't restored to full colour.

Yes, I've read something about that too.

Certainly, 'The Mind Of Evil' would be the *must-buy* Who DVD release for me next year...if they can add 'The Seeds Of Doom' to the release schedule, that would be perfect!

Regards,

Cypher

I think The Seeds of Doom might come out in a box set with Terror of the Zygons.
