MADONNA - Your favorite album?

Madonna has released some fantastic albums over the years and I absolutely love them all but it's really hard to pinpoint her best.
I have to say that imo "Like A Prayer" was excellent in every way possible. "Erotica" comes in at a close second...and "Confessions" third.

I like "Ray Of Light" also, but the songs after "The Power Of Goodbye" tend to become boring and lose their sparkle.

How about you guys?

The First Album
Like A Virgin
True Blue
WTG (Soundtrack)
Like A Prayer
You Can Dance (Compliation)
I'm Breathless (Sountrack)
The Immaculate Collection (Compilation)
Erotica
Bedtime Stories
Something To Remember (Compilation)
Evita (Sountrack)
Ray Of Light
Music
American Life
Revisited and Remixed (Compilation)
Confessions On A Dancefloor
Hard Candy

Good album, and that is where I became a Madonna fan.

"Into The Groove" and "Like A Virgin" sound marvellous on a crowded dancefloor in a nightclub.

Ray of Light is my favorite followed by Like A Prayer and Confessions.
It got a lot of criticism at the time, but I also really liked American Life.

I think "Music" is a fantastic album. At the time of release it got just as good reviews as "Ray Of Light" did, but as time has passed it seems to be generally forgotten about whereas "Ray Of Light" is still lauded.

My favourites are American Life and Erotica, they are both totally fantastic albums. It's sad that so much negativity surrounds them

I also have a soft spot for I'm Breathless. It's so over the top and camp i can't help but love it

I should add that i am a huge M fan though, the only albums i don't have much time for are Ray of Light (A few great tracks, but on the whole it's a bit of a chore to listen too) and Bedtime Stories (Aside from the fantastic title track , Human Nature & Sanctuary...)

Having followed her career from my early teens to present day, it is very hard for me to pigeon hole Madge into any area of favouritism. I love all her albums.

The most listened to songs are Secret Garden, Crazy For You, Rescue Me, Cherish, Miles Away, Power Of Goodbye, Dear Jessie and Bad Girl.

It's hard to pick just one, but if I had to, it's probably "Music". It's one of the few albums I own where I can listen to every track. That's not to say every track is amazing, but I find it one of her most consistent and quite underrated albums. The acoustic/synth work she and Mirwais did was a great taster as to what was to come with "American Life", another underrated album of hers.

Erotica is one of my most played albums ever by any artist so I never understood why it was classed as a huge failure for Madge.
Imo, the quality of the songs alone were miles ahead of anything on her latest CD. Just listen to "Bad Girl" and "Rain" compared to "Spanish Lesson" or "Candy Shop" lol.
Don't get me wrong, I like "HC" But after listening to "LAP" "Erotica" and "Confessions" it's like being slapped in the face with a damp squid.
The sex book definitely put people off "Erotica" and certainly had a lasting effect on what could have been one of the biggest sellers of her career which was a shame indeed.

American Life had it's moments of glory with "Die Another Day", "NKM", "Nothing Fails, "Easy Ride" and Intervention" but for me the inclusion of "Hollywood" spoils it.
I don't know why but it's just one of those songs I could never get into....yet I adore "Love Profusion" (one of the most forgotten tracks of the album)...go figure. lol

^ Surely one of the best compilations ever, even if she stupidly put some remixes on there that weren't necessary!

When I first heard TIC I couldn't believe what she did with "Like A Prayer", I was gutted.

Still, all was forgiven with "Justify My Love"

My favourites are Like A Prayer, American Life and Confessions.

True Blue had killer singles but terrible filler - same goes for Bedtime Stories and Erotica.

It's interesting that so many fans rave about Erotica. It's not my favourite. I love Rain and Bad Girl, but the rest of it I don't care about. It has that awful cover of Fever and In this Life which I hate. I guess it's a matter of personal taste, but it's too club/dj focused for me. I don't think Shep Pettibone is that great a producer.

I find it very hard to pick a favourite, as I tend to go through Madge phases.... but at the moment it's probably Like A Prayer.
Am simply in love with Oh Father (her best ever ballad), and Dear Jessie.
