what a good looking pair. Ricky was really funny on the Let's Dance thing for Comic Relief. I think he'll have some rhythm.

I would love to see Ricky do well, he needs to show the Beeb they are not making a mistake by having a Hollyoaks lad on there.

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ricky Whittle has argued that he has the best professional dancer in Australian Natalie Lowe.

The Hollyoaks actor, who plays Calvin Valentine, was among the 16 celebrities confirmed for the BBC reality series yesterday.

He will be partnered by Lowe, who has triumphed and been runner-up twice on the Australian Dancing With The Stars.

Speaking about his partner, the soap star told DS: "I've looked her up on the internet and done my research and this girl can dance! The things she can do on a dance floor is amazing. I've got the Aussie champion by my side. She's beautiful and amazingly talented."

Whittle also revealed that he is taking the dance contest seriously, declaring that he would not take part if he didn't think he could win.

"I don't do something just to do well. I want to win and go far," he said. "Natalie's come a long way and she's a champion in Oz. I don't want her to come all this way for nothing.

"I've been a big fan of the show for years and I've always been inspired by dancers. I took lessons a couple of years back because I wanted to get into it, but I was too busy and it didn't happen."

However, the Oldham-born star also revealed that he has been struggling with elements of the ballroom and Latin performances in early rehearsals.

"Normally I'm a trainer and jeans man, so it's killing me to get the shirt and shoes on," he joked. "I'm also struggling with Latin heels, which feel about six inches tall.

"I'm using new muscles that I've never used before and I'm trying to get used to that. My postures bad, so I've got to correct that as well."

I liked the dance, esp the choreography

But Ricky did stumble for a moment, i didnt think it deserved a 9 though coz i am pretty sure it wouldnt have got a 10 , so a 8 would have been good from Len i think rather then a 9

Lovely performance. Shame about the slip, but he recovered well. Easy to see that Natalie is a specialist in Standard. Can't wait for the Latin! They're doing Cha Cha rather than Rumba? Or the other way round?

Len and Bruno always seem to big the show up at the start - maybe to convince new viewers to keep watching.
I think we have several dancers who can become good, but no-one is better than several of those from previous years.

Ricky and Ali will hopefully not take the praise and raising of expectations too seriously. They could both become brilliant dancers, but its a bit early to know what will happen.

I agree, a lot of the time the public like to see a journey, improvement week after week. If your considered a favourite with the judges the public tend to turn against you. I hope it doesn't happen in either case and the best dancer wins.
