Graham Norton Sits In For Steve Wright

Graham Norton sits in for Steve Wright on 7th September. I don't know if it's the whole week. Is it a celebrity which now sits in for Steve after Dale Winton has had his go?

How much Holiday Entitlement is Steve Wright Allowed a Year.

It seems like he's Allowed 50 weeks a year off.

New rule at the BBC.....1 week off for each stone in weight of the presenter.

Funny but cruel RL, but SW does appear to have about 15 weeks holiday a year

The BBC really are getting desperate for things to do with Norton now. I suggest that they get him cleaning the toilets next. It will be a step up from sitting in for Steve Wright

On the other hand - perhaps a radio 2 slot was only a matter of time for the guy who is the flagship BBC 1 Saturday night presenter.

Lots of crossover between radio & television and Norton is a corporation big hitter so why shouldn't he extend his exposure?

Deary me, the Beeb still don't know what to do with their prize asset!

Paul O'Grady or another stint from Dale would be better.

Whats wrong with allowing Graeme Norton to do this show. His style is very suitable and he can promote first hand some of his future TV highlights. He is no stranger to interviewing both public and celebrities and his quick wit has earned him the big money that the BBC now keep him with.

As usual it's the silly UK tabloid negative type agenda with an utterly daft attempt to discredit some different entertainment before a presenter has had an opportunity to prove what he can do on BBC Radio 2!!

As usual it's a case of lets bury any attempt to deliver some different entertainment before the poor guy has had an opportunity to prove what he can do on Radio 2!!
Shouldn't his first job be entertaining his 35+ audience on R2 by playing AC music, provide short entertaining links and interviewing celebs? (The latter he's good at on tv) Promoting the next BBC1 vehicle of his which is certain to be a failure (Totally Saturday anyone) is not a good idea.

His heart is in alternative comedy, something which he jumped the shark at as soon as he left C4.

O'Grady and Winton at least know how to adapt their act to the R2 audience.

And of couse he has not yet been heard..... on Radio 2 doing the show. It's hillarious reading the knocking tripe before a single word has been spoken on the station by Norton.

So perhaps it might be best awaiting the output before posting the venomous and negaive comments relating to it.

BTW a very substantial proportion of the BBC Radio 2 audience is under 35. Families listen at home and in cars etc. Its been a station for a very wide age group for the last 20 years as can be proved by it overtaking Radio 1 as the UK's most listened to radio station.

I completely agree with your overall sentiments - let's see how he actually sounds before we judge.

But really - did you have to give the R2-bashing brigade another chance with your "audience under 35 comments"? I predict... the usual suspects.

Yes be interesting to see if a 46 year old can adapt to hosting a show aimed at a primarily 35+ audience

My understanding of BBC Radio 2 is that it is a broad appeal radio station. It the UK's No 1 station with all of the UK's biggest name presenters providing a broad mix of popular music and speech for all the family and specialist shows in the evenings and at weekends.

It seems to have developed into the BBC's flagship radio offering and provides a unique bridge to BBC TV services whilst providing entertaining radio.

I don't think the BBC have any apologies to make about Radio 2 as the commercial stations have discovered it's a difficult proposition to compete with as it's a quality service that literally has something to suit all the family.

The SW show was always an entertainment show. So I guess a celebrity covering his holidays makes it sound like an entertainment show. I do still think Mark and Emma or Liza were far better. Looks like Richard Allinson and all the other cover crews noises have been put out a little?

Really...... before Graeme Norton has uttered a single word on the show?

That is objective!!

Paul O'Grady. Dale Winton and now Graham Norton. Is Radio Two trying to say something about their target audience ...

It's looks like it's the whole week from the 7th September. Maybe he wants to become a DJ? We have to wait and see how he sounds.

Maybe a week of Father Noel Furlong followed by Chris Evans is just what the Church of England needs to convince agnostics that hell does indeed exist.

Yes they are clearly targeting people who like nothing more than to make cheap jokes about a person's sexuality. Or could it possibly be because the people in question are genuinely entertaining, whatever their backround?
