Is there? I can only see the US paced thread. If there's two, maybe we could ask the mods to merge them?

Agreed! I could only find a Season One UK Pace and Season 2 US pace! Not everyone watches at US pace!

I know I don't watch at US pace, and I don't fancy wading into a thread a week late to the discussion when everyone there will be onto the next episode (which I won't have seen).

What's the spoiler policy here? If it's "no spoilers", could that be put in the title?

Just finished watching S1 back to back from the Sky HD box.

Great programme, really enjoyed it, and looking forward to the new series in October.

Interested to see how much the Epitaph One episode is referenced as I understand it was never broadcast in the US.

So I presume that the new series will be back in 'present' day time?

Looking forward to this one, but considering it's poor ratings in the US I would guess this the last season. Fox have said that they will let all 13 episodes of this season run and will not axe it midway through. Joss Whedon shows can't seem to get off the ground.

Was just about to start a thread for this, but found this one already here.

Looking forward to this starting this week. I watched season one at US pace, but as this season is on within a reasonable time after the US I am happy to wait.

Let's keep this thread Spoiler free please. I don't like spoilers for arc driven shows.

Sounds sensible to be but if we can't do that perhaps it should just be taken as read that the policy is No Spoilers.

I managed to survive to the end of Harper's Island virtually spoiler-less so hopefully I can do the same with this

Yes, it can be put in the title and I would certainly go along with that. We can ask DS to change the title of the thread if everyone is happy with that. (And if they aren't they can create a separate "Spoilers" thread.

Wouldn't the OP be the one who had to ask the mods to change the title??

Dollhouse Season 2 Ep 1 Swearing

I watched the first two episodes today on Sci-Fi and enjoyed them a great deal. However I'm sure Eliza said '**cking' in the first episode early on when talking about wearing stilettos. She definitely said it as opossed to 'frickin' which most americans heard when it was broadcast there not long ago.

What was strange was that it seemed to be dubbed on. Meaning I think she actually said 'frickin' when they shot it but somehow for broadcast here in the UK is was dubbed with 'f***ing'. I watched it serveral times on the Sky+ box and it definitely was the 'F-bomb' she said but the clip I watched on the net just now, she is clearly saying 'frickin'

The only thing I can think of was that they wanted to create a buzz for the show and be naughty or it was someone kidding around with the edit and they accidentally gave it to Sci-Fi to broadcast.

Be interesting if anyone uploads the UK's broadcast clip to see a direct comparison.

What is going on?

Am I the only one who thinks this?

^^ I didn't pick up on the 'f-bomb' when I watched last night Genesis Wave, but I'll look at it again tonight and see what I think - watch this space for an update!

As for the actual episodes themselves - I haven't watched the second one yet, so I can't speak about that. However, the season preimere......

- For being one of Echo's 'mission of the week' storylines, it was a good one. I liked the twist that it went from supposedly being Echo being Apollo's (sorry, but he'll always be Apollo to me!) bride to her actually playing him in a bid to take him down. I also liked the way the head injury seemed to 'shake' out her previous personlaities - I know Eliza comes in for a lot of stick in the acting stakes, but I thought she handled the scene in the hanger particularly well.

- I quite liked the Boyd/Adelle exchanges - just the right side of sparky, but clear on where both sides stand on the issue of the Dollhouse and it's use/purpose.

- Adelle herself - love her. Olivia Williams plays her perfectly - loved the scene where she cuts Ballard down to size without even looking up from the file she's reading.

- Ballard - I dunno, something just doesn't gel for me. I get why he's there, but the smartass side ('Expensive suit') doesn't work for me. I don't know how I'd like him to be played, but I'm not keen on him at the minute (which isn't necessarily an attack on the actor - I liked him last season and in BSG).

- The Topher and Claire storyline - well played, especially the scene in which Topher finally breaks and tells her why he made her the way he did. Amy Acker and Franz Kanz did a great job. Was it just me, or did we see the first hint of the 'broken' Topher we saw (will see?) in Epitath One?

- Victor and Sierra. Very small appearances, not much to go on. Nice to see the scars going, Sierra's imprint was hilarious, and the hand-holding at the end? Aww.

- Alexis Denisof - interesting. Will wait and see how this one plays out. To refer back to the 'Expenisve suit' line, I liked how it showed Boyd's easy analytical skills, whereas it showed Ballard being an ass-hat. However, for now, that's the sum total of the effect his appearance left on me.

- Time for the bad. The whole thing, for me, was less than the sum of it's parts. I know it's only the first episode of the season and so is just starting to set out the pieces of the larger puzzle, which is fine. However,, for me, the two main stories didn't sit well - the Echo story was moving at a different pace to the Topher story and so the high pace of one was jarred by the slowness of the other and vice versa. It's a pity we're losing Amy Acker for much of this season as well, as I thought last night was some of her best work to date either here or on Angel or Alias. The amount of suspension os disbelief that was required was also a bit much - an arms dealer meets and marries Echo in how long?

I wasn't overly impressed with the metting an arms dealer falling in love and getting married storyline, it just didn't fit right. I loved the Topher/ Claire interaction more than the Echo parts in this episode.

Enjoyed the second episode much more, showed a different side to Echo.

I loved both episodes and it has instantly become the best thing on currently. I thought Eliza's acting was vastly better than in the pilot, eg when getting caught looking for honeymoon details. As usual, the background shenanigans were more interesting than Echo's assignment of the week. For me that's easier to take than it was in the first series because I now know that's how the show works. Similarly I did wonder whether Adelle had an ulterior motive for bringing November back, and whether she engineered the encounter with Ballard, but from s1 I no longer think she's that clever.

We're not quite at the point we saw in Epitaph One where Echo was juggling multiple personalities with ease, but it's close. I got the feeling they were trying to make Ballard seem smarter, which doesn't quite work because he was so stupid in s1. I'm not sure I buy Adelle's reason for making him Echo's handler, either: surely she must realise that he'll cover up for Echo? It's just asking for another composite event.

I did wonder if it's November who is feeding information to the senator. If it was, though, I doubt she'd submit to Topher's machines. It could just be Alpha again. Presumably it's November who the senator has been given contact details for. Something most happen to her because of the line about her in Epitaph One.

I know what you mean, it seemed a bit 'rushed' to me (from Apollo's perspective); it seems too incredible (even for a Joss Whedon show, which can make pretty much anything credible) that Apollo would meet, fall in love with, and marry in such a short space of time.

I suppose in fiction, though, some suspension of disbelief is required!

That was what I was getting at earlier about the different paces of the two main storylines in the episode - Echo's stuff was flying along, whereas Topher and Claire could easily have occurred in a period of about 6 hours or so.

I like it!

Apparently Summer Glau will be appearing mid-season, but I don't know what role she'll play (trying to stay spoiler-free), though Joss did say that he wouldn't make her a doll because that would be too obvious. Maybe we'll finally get to see one of the other Dollhouses and she's an employee?

Whatever role she'll play, I imagine that it'll be more significant than a background, one-episode character. Like I said when I saw Amy Acker in the pilot, I can't see Joss wasting one of his tried-and-tested in a one-episode, not-that-significant part (same goes for Senator Wesley).
